People say that George Washington, the first president of the United States, never told a lie. But it seems that the president was not without faults.
A New York library recently found that Washington borrowed two books from the library in 1789. He didn¡¯t return them.
If he were still alive, he would have to pay the library ¡ç300,000 for being 220 years late.
On October 5, 1789, when the first president borrowed the books form the New York Society Library, he didn¡¯t sign his name in the borrower¡¯s book. He just wrote ¡°president¡± to show who had taken them out.
The two books should have been brought back a month later but were never returned. Workers at the library realized the books were missing.
The New York Society Library doesn¡¯t expect anyone to pay the fine. But it hopes that someone will return the books.

Children like to copy what they hear. They copy their parents, their friends and even the TV. This teaches them how to _1_ the language. Copying is also a good way for students to learn a second language. When you _2_ foreigners speak English, repeat what they say as well as you can.
Children don't practice grammar,, but use the language to 3_ things that they are interested in. They don't _4 their vocabulary or poor grammar. They find ways to express themselves, and they do  it successfully.
Students of English schools also pay attention to communication (½»Á÷). Look for _5_ to talk with people in English. If you can't find a _6 to talk to, talk with other students in English _7.  Start an English discussion group and talk about music, movies or anything that 8 you.
Don't worry about _9, what you want is to learn how to communicate easily. Remember that you can communicate successfully even with _10_small vocabulary.

One morning, a student was walking with his teacher when they saw a pair of old shoes by the roadside (·±ß). They thought the shoes might belong  1  a poor man. In fact, the   2  of the shoes was working nearby.

The student wanted to hide (²Ø) the shoes and see   3  the man would do   4  he couldn¡¯t find them. But the teacher   5  him and said, ¡° Let¡¯s   6  a coin ( Ó²±Ò) in each of the shoes, and watch what he will do.¡±

The student did so, and then they hid nearby.

The man soon came back to get his  7 , he felt something hard in them. He found the two coins.

Surprise came to his   8 . He looked at the coins for a minute, and then  9 but nobody was there.

He then knelt down (¹òÏÂ) , looked up to the sky and said   10  aloud, in which he spoke of his  11  wife and children without food.

The student was deeply moved (¸Ð¶¯µÄ), with tears in his eyes, ¡° Dear   12  ,¡± he said, ¡°You have taught me   13  lesson which I¡¯ll never  14 . I finally understand now: It¡¯s more blessed (ÉñÊ¥µÄ) to   15  than to receive.¡±
