The world’s longest cross-sea bridge --- the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, opened to public traffic at 9 a.m. on October 24. The 55-km-long bridge links(连接) China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR). Zhuhai City of Guangdong Province and Macao SAR (澳门特别行政区).

The bridge’s construction began in December 2009 and finished in February 2018. The bridge looks like a “Y”. It can cut travel time between Hong Kong and Zhuhai from three hours to just 30 minutes. This will greatly cut down the cost and time of transportation between the mainland and Hong Kong.

We should know that the bridge adopts ( 采取) the right-hand traffic rules of the mainland, and changes into left-hand rules after the vehicles arrive at the Hong Kong or Macao ports(港口). Vehicles such as cars, buses and so on should pay the road toll( 通行费). People can pay the toll through ETC or Hong Kong express. Travelers can also pay by using Alipay, WeChat or RMB.

“In the next step, we should be more careful about how to make the two islands more beautiful and have more travelers,” one of the greatest designers, 93-year-old professor Sun said.
