【题目】It seems like technology is everywhere. Computers and smart phones are at the center of almost everything we do. They constantly(持续地) require our attention. We text our friends with them during the day, sleep with them by our beds and check our messages as soon as we wake up .

In the future, technology will no longer be interrupting us all the time. Instead,we will use calm technology which was first developed by scientist Mark Weiser in the 1970s. In his opinion, calm technology works quietly but constantly, We know it is there, but we don’t pay much attention to it. According to Mark, the best technology should be invisible(隐形的) and let you live your life.

We already use many different types of calm technology in our everyday lives. Do you have a smoke alarm in your house? That smoke alarm is always there, checking the air for smoke and quietly keeping your safe. It only reminds you it's there when you’ve burnt your bread. Or there maybe lights in your home or school. When some body passes in front of their sensor( 传感器), the lights turn on. You don' t think about this type of technology until you see the light go on.

In the future, we can imagine our houses will use calm technology to open the curtains for us in the morning, to turn down the heat when we leave, or even to choose the best music for our mood. The minute we walk through the door, our house will respond by turning on the lights and music, and perhaps even staring to prepare our dinner.

B. A smart phone.

C. A smoke alarm.

D. A radio.

【题目】Imagine one day, the water taps (水龙头) in your house stop running. You have to pay a lot of money to buy water from shops. And still there isn’t enough water for everyone. Your mother has to save the family’s shower (洗澡) water to use for washing clothes. Then she has to use that same dirty water to wash other things. Would you be able to stand that kind of life?

Probably not. But that’s what kids in Yemen are experiencing. Experts say Yemen is going to be the first country in the world to run out of water. According to a World Bank report, the capital, Sana, will run out of drinking water as early as 2025.

Because of the water shortage (短缺) in Yemen, the government often cuts the water supply. Hannan, an 18-year-old from Lahej, told the Times, “In a good week we’ll have a water supply (供给) all week. But then the following week there will be water only for a day or two.”

Hannan said only rich people have enough water to use. They can buy water from the shops or from the water trucks. Private companies own the trucks. They travel around the city every day to sell water--- at very high prices. “A lot of people can’t afford it,” she said.

The average (平均的) person in Yemen uses 100 to 200 cubic meters of water per year. That is far below the international water poverty(贫困)line of 1,000 cubic meters.

The government is thinking of making use of sea water. But it will cost a lot and it may not happen soon enough to help the people of Yemen.

C. suffering from water shortage D. washing clothes with used water

2Which of the following is not true?

A. Common people in Yemen don’t have enough water to use.

B. People in Yemen have no water to use during a bad week.

3It can be inferred(推断) that ______.

A. the capital of Yemen is developing fast

B. Hannan is a teenager from a rich family

D. private companies selling water make a lot of money

4The Yemen government ______.

B. may try to make use of sea water

C. only cares about rich people’s lives
