2and you will get along better and better with them

3the TV play is as interesting as I expected

4so wonderful that it was well worth waiting for

5a real gift for music and has tried out for

故这里应填has been behind others since

故这里应填and you will get along better and better with them

故这里填the TV play is as interesting as I expected

故这里填so wonderful that it was well worth waiting for.

5have a gift for… 根据句意可知,后面这句话用现在完成时,have/has+过去分词,故这里应填a real gift for music and has tried out for

The summer holiday is coming. What a perfect chance to plan a trip! How about backpacking (背包旅行)? Maybe you’re too young to do it. But it doesn’t matter. Follow me and you’ll learn about an interesting way to travel.

Have you ever noticed foreigners with big bags on their backs? They wear jeans and T-shirts, and have guidebooks or maps in their hands. They look curious (好奇的) about everything they see. They enjoy themselves without a tour group. That’s right! They are backpackers.

Backpacking is a popular way for Westerners to travel outside of their country. It’s cheap so that people can travel more and see more places. Most backpackers are young people because backpacking needs a strong body, courage and freedom.

Backpackers usually do some homework before setting out. They search for information about their destination (目的地) country: food, fun places to visit, hostels (青年旅舍) and things to buy. They are sure they know how to change planes or where to get the train.

Backpacking is a freer way to travel. You can change your destination whenever you want. It also allows travelers to explore and see more. And you can decide how long to stay there. If you go with a tour group, there may be a lot of rules and you may not be free to do things as you like.

PhoneSoap: Charge and Clean Your Phone

You may charge your phone every day, but do you clean your phone as much? Whatever your hands touch, your phone touch. It has been discovered that some phones have 18 times more bacteria and viruses than any surface in a public restroom. So it probably won’t surprise you that a 2011 University of London study found that one in six of our phones have bacteria and viruses on them – specifically, the bacteria called E. coli.

The research on bacteria and viruses led to the invention of PhoneSoap. It is not actually liquid like dishwasher soap. It is a phone charger that uses the electromagnetic radiation(辐射) used in hospitals to kill 99.9 percent of bacteria and viruses, cleaning your phone while it charges,

“There are really certain types of bacteria and viruses that we should not be in touch with, and they are really on our phones,” says Wes Barnes, the PhoneSoap co-founder. It all started while his cousin and co-founder, Dan LaPorte, was in his cancer research lab at college. “He realized he got the idea of getting rid of bacteria and viruses on the phones,” said Barnes. “In the lab they used UV-C light for destroying them. He realized this would be the fastest, most powerful way to kill any bacteria and viruses living on electronic machines.”

PhoneSoap looks like a little metal suitcase. Your phone rests in to charge and get cleaned at the same time. Instead of plugging your phone into the wall, you’d plug it into the PhoneSoap charger box. The process only takes a few minutes but, Barnes say, “The idea is that you can leave it in there overnight if you want to keep charging. Reflective paint keeps the light completely around the phone so it cleans the phone fully.”

The co-founders spent 2013 finding the right companies and they started shipping the product in late November. By last week’s International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, PhoneSoap was all grown-up. Both co-founders have left their previous jobs and are selling PhoneSoap nonstop. “We’re shipping almost more than we can handle each day,” Barnes says. “It’s been a great adventure.”

1According to the passage, PhoneSoap ______.

A.takes a whole night to kill bacteriaB.deals with bacteria with radiation

C.is a kind of liquid like dishwasher soapD.has to be plugged into the wall to work

2From what Barnes said in the last paragraph, we can infer that ______.

A.PhoneSoap is in great demand nowB.PhoneSoap is really hard to handle

C.they can’t produce enough PhoneSoapD.they’ll make improvements to PhoneSoap

3What’s the passage mainly about?

A.Methods of cleaning phones.B.Tips on charging phones quickly.

C.Soap killing harmful bacteria on phones.D.A phone charger keeping your phone clean.

There are thousands of rivers all over the world. Many of them are famous, such as the Mississippi in the United States, the Nile in Egypt, the Ganges in India, the Amazon in Brail, the Yangtze River in China and so on. Rivers are one of the most important natural resources. They are very useful and helpful.

Firstly, they can be used for transportation. Many of the world’s great cities are located (坐落) on rivers and almost every country has at least one river flowing though it. So people can use ships to carry goods, materials or other things from one city to another easily. People can take a trip to other places by ship easily, too.

Besides transportation, rivers also give food, water to drink, water for crops, and chances for fun and entertainment for the people who live along their banks. In order to increase the supply of water for crops, engineers sometimes build a dam(打坝)across a river and let a lake from behind the dam. Then people can use the water not only lo irrigate their fields but also to make electricity for their homes and industries.

However, large cities and industries that are located upon rivers often have problems. As the cities grow in size and industries increase in number, the water in the rivers becomes polluted. It can't be used to irrigate the fields, not even for drinking. Luckily, people realize the problems. They are trying their best to stop the rivers from being polluted.
