1

分析“During the summer of the last year, my grandma and I went to Japan (A) .” 分析“We bought funny items from different stores that we would (B) find in America.” (1). together (2). never

3

故填we went swimming

4

分析“I am looking forward to the winter break.” 故填wait for

There are not many people around who say they like rats(老鼠). When you see one of them, you may want to run in the opposite direction.

There is one man though who has always enjoyed staying with rats, even when he was a young boy. His name is Bart Weetjens and he comes from Belgium in Europe. As he grew up, he learned everything about rats. He knew that they have a very strong sense of smell. He realized that it might be possible to train rats to help solve a problem that troubled some Southeast Asian countries.

Clearing away unexploded bombs and landmines(未爆炸的炸弹和地雷) is a difficult job. Bart began to train rats to look for explosives. Because a rat’s sense of smell is so strong, they are able to smell a thing known as TNT that is used in bombs. And because rats are not heavy, if they place their weight on an unexploded bomb, they will not cause it to explode(爆炸).

Bart chose African Giant Pouched Rats for the job. They are well known for being calm and smart. Training begins when they are about six weeks old, and it lasts for nine months. Once trained, one rat can search up to 200m in 20 minutes. The same area would take a human up to four days. Trained rats are known as Mine Detection Rats, or MDRs, and they have worked successfully in Cambodia since 2015.

Good morning everybody! I am very glad to stand here to share my topic.

When preparing for this topic, I just want to search some articles and copy them down. I read a lot of articles, some from the university teachers, some from the famous stars, and even from the students of my age. But after reading them, I gave up the idea, I even felt shameful. Because the topic I want to talk about today is a serious topic full of pride.

We know that our country is full of sunshine, and we are the future of our country. So my dream is to be the hope of our motherland. I don’t want to talk about big events( 大事 ), I just want to call on young people to show the side of courage, good and confidence. We must learn to develop our own thoughts, correct the wrong ones and change our direction to the right side in future life. We should try our best to make our Chinese Dream come true.

Perhaps the strength (力量) of a person is small, but when he is connected with the motherland, he will be a big hero. Perhaps a dream is tiny, but when it becomes the dream of a country, it will be huge. Perhaps I can’t change our country on my own, but if thousands and thousands of young people work for the dream together, our motherland will be stronger and stronger.

In the 13th century, Marco Polo, the world known Italian traveler saw many wonderful things in China. One of the things he discovered was money made of paper. People in the West did not have such kind of money until the 15th century. However, the Chinese began to use it in the 7th century.

Paper was invented by a Chinese man called Cai Lun almost 2,000 years ago. But it was not made in Europe until the year 1100. Four hundred years later, a German discovered that he could make the best paper from trees. After that countries rich in forests, such as Canada, Sweden, America, Finland became the most important ones in paper making.

Paper can be used in many ways. The common uses include newspapers, magazines and books. But do you know that paper can be used for keeping warm? In Finland, the farmers wear paper boots to keep their feet warm in the snow. And even houses can be insulated(使绝缘) from heat or cold with paper.

However, we have to understand that paper still comes from trees now. If we keep on wasting so much paper, there will not be any trees left on the earth someday in the near future. Every day people throw away about 2800 tons of paper in our city. It takes 17 trees to make one ton of paper. This means that we are cutting down nearly 48000 trees every day. The fact is that it takes more than 10 years for a tree to grow.

So we must start saving paper right now. We can use both sides of every piece of paper. We can make useful things out of used paper. We can use china cup instead of paper ones. When shopping, we can use fewer paper bags and reuse them if we have some.

In short, we should keep a balance between using paper and protecting trees, and do it now before it is too late.
