The United Nations has made the first Monday of October as World Habitat Day(世界住房日). The idea is to show the living level of ourselves. Everybody wants to have enough room. It also reminds the world of its duty for humans to have better habitat in the future.

We must improve city planning to deal with new challenges of the 21st century. In both developed and developing countries, cities and towns are feeling the effects of weather change, food danger, population growth and so on. These facts will change towns and cities in the century ahead. Many developing countries will continue to experience fast population growth in cities, along with its most serious problems, such as overcrowding and poverty(贫穷). Over half of the world’s population mainly live in cities, so there is no doubt that city planning will become the first thing to do for governments.

Unfortunately, the city planning systems in many parts of the world can’t deal with these challenges. After all, we know the problems, so we need to share the best solutions as efficiently and widely as possible by planning better for ourselves and our environment.
