Another way involves（涉及） many famous people．They hold concerts to raise money and awareness（意识） about charity．
For example，the Irish singer Bob Geldof and Scottish musician Midge Ure organized the Live 8concerts in 2005．The theme was poverty in Africa．There were 10concerts held in different cities at the same time．Over 1，000musicians performed to ask people to give their names，which they made into a"Live 8list"．The list was then presented to world leaders．
"This is really a United Nations．The whole world has come together in solidarity（团结） with the poor，"former UN Secretary General（秘书长） Kofi Annan told the BBC．
In China，there are many charity organizations，too，such as the Red Cross Society of China，which was set up in 1904，and the Love Without Boundaries（国界） Foundation．Every person can make a difference in helping others in need．Here are some tips for you．
●Donating money is a very common way of giving．You must have seen some donation boxes kept in stores and in malls．There is a picture or a message on the box telling where the money will go．Dropping change into the box is a simple way of helping others．
●Next time，when you clean your house，try to keep old things that may not be useful to you，such as books，bags，shoes and clothes．Then，you can donate them to a local charity organization．Just make sure these things are clean and usable．
●You can help others in need by becoming a volunteer．During the holiday，you can help to teach children from poor homes，or visit the old people，for example．
