____________ ____________ you visit this Saturday?

1joined ago

2Luckily passed

3Did hold

4is there

5Where will

(1). joined (2). ago

(1). Luckily (2). passed

(1). Did (2). hold

(1). is (2). there

5原句对the Science and Technology Museum划线,是问地点,需用where提问。 (1). Where (2). will

It was my first day in Miss Hargrove's seventh grade class. I was very anxious to fit in(适应). After the teacher introduced me to the class, I put on a smile and took my seat.Lunchtime was a pleasant surprise when the girls all crowded around my table. They were friendly, so I began to relax. My new classmates told me about the school, the teachers and the other kids. They pointed out the class nerd (书呆子): Mary Lou. She was a pretty girl with dark eyes and olive skin (橄榄色皮肤), but she wore a long skirt and an old-fashioned blouse. The girls giggled (咯咯笑) as Mary Lou walked by. She ate alone. After school, the girls invited me to join them in front of the school. We waited. Then Mary Lou came down the school steps. The girls started making fun of her. I paused, then joined right in. Mean words(坏话) fell from my lips. No one could tell I'd never done this before. The other girls started cheering for me. I pulled on Mary Lou's backpack(背包) and then pushed her. Her backpack broke. She fell. Everyone was laughing. I fit in.I was not proud. If you've ever picked a wing off a butterfly, you know how I felt.Mary Lou got up, gathered her books and left without saying anything.I turned to leave with my laughing friends and noticed a man standing beside his car. He must have been Mary Lou's father — he had the same olive skin, dark hair and handsome features (容貌). He watched the lonely girl walk toward him. His eyes shone with sadness and pride. As I passed, he looked at me in silence with burning tears that reminded me of my shame.I never again hurt someone for my own gain.

Bamboo is one of the nature’s most surprising plants.

Like other kinds of grass, a bamboo plant may be cut very low to the ground, but it will grow back very quickly. A Japanese scientist recorded one bamboo plant that grew almost 1.5 meters in 24 hours! Bamboo grows almost everywhere in the world except Europe. (62) There are more than 1,000 kinds of bamboo that grow around the world on both mountains and plains (平原).

Not all bamboo looks the same. Some bamboo plants are very thin. They may only grow to be a few centimeters wide while others may grow to more than 30 centimeters across. This plant also comes in different colors, from yellow to black to green.

Many Asian countries have been using bamboo for hundreds of years. They often use bamboo for building new buildings. As a matter of fact, the cables (绳索) that hold up the hanging bridge across the Min River in Sichuan are made of bamboo. The bridge has been in use for more than 1,000 years, and is still holding strong.

In Africa, (63) engineers are teaching poor farmers how to use bamboo to find water . These African countries need cheap ways to find water because (64) they have no money, and their fields often die from no rain and no water.
