the south of England, there is usually little.

     Mrs Black, the wife of a rich business man, invited some of her friends to have lunch, She wanted to
try a new way of cooking a fish, and she was very pleased with herself when the dish was ready. As the
dish was very hot, she put it near the open window to cool for a few minutes, But, five minutes later,
when she came back for it, she was shocked(震惊) to find the neighbor's cat at the dish. She was in time

more, the war would be over. Suddenly, one of them put his foot on a thistle (蓟). He cried out and his sudden cry woke
the Scots. In a moment, they were on their feet and ready for battle. The fighting was hard but it did not last long. The
Scots wiped out the Romans and saved their country.
     The thistle is not a beautiful plant. It has sharp needles all over it. Few people like it. But the people of Scotland liked
