【题目】 Do you often run outdoors to keep healthy? Have you ever thought about how running helps to clean up the earth? Sometimes a creative mind can bring us a win-win(双赢) situation.

Plogging began in Sweden(瑞典). The name“plogging" comes from two words -the Swedish(瑞典的) word "plocka", which means“to pick up”, and the word "jogging", which means“to run slowly". A Swedish man called Erik started the movement.

He saw rubbish here and there when riding to work each day. He became worried about the dirty environment and decided not to go to work by bike any more.

Then he began to run to work and pick up the rubbish. To his joy, more and more people followed him and soon the new way to exercise became popular.

Many people choose plogging instead of just jogging because they think plogging is a good way to help clean up the earth. Sometimes rubbish is difficult to collect because it may scatter(散落) all around. But if the runners pick up the rubbish on the way, it is quite different. After all, many hands make light work.

Another reason is that plogging burns more calories(卡路里). According to a research, plogging for 10 minutes burns 48 calories, while usual jogging for 10 minutes burns about 39 calories.

Everyone on the earth should play a part in cleaning it up!②是我们一起采取行动的时候了。So ready? Let's plog tomorrow!

【题目】 It is reported rhino horns are big business. Traditional Chinese medicine uses them to treat illnesses. A kilogram can be sold as much as horn $60,000.As a result, almost all rhino populations are in danger. In order to solve the serious problems, a good way to relieve pressure on the animals might be to fill the market with fakes(仿造品),so rhinos may have a chance to stay alive.

That would need the fakes to be good. But Fritz Vollrath, a zoologist at Oxford University and his partners from Fudan University have come up with a cheap and easy-to-make fake horn that is very similar to the real thing.

The main material of Dr. Vollrath's fake horn is horsehair. Although horses and rhinos look different, they are closely related. Horses do not have horns, of course, but neither do rhinos. The "horns" of rhinos are not made of bones but hairs. The hairs are tied tightly together by a mixture of dead cells. Examinations under a microscope showed that hairs from horses' tails are similar to those in the horns of rhinos.

So how can a fake rhino horn be made? First, find out the right materials. Second, a proper glue should be used. Dr. Vollrath and his partners get a special kind of glue. It is naturally produced by spiders and silkworms. Third, the glued horn is put in an oven to dry. At last, after some polishing, the fake horn looks just like a real one.

DNA would certainly tell the fakes but people's eyes are not able to tell the differences. So by making fake horns, people may help save more rhinos.

【题目】 Most people may not think that them am any problems with watermelons, but some Japanese sellers do. Many people know the saying, "Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet and so are you." Well, today the poem needs to change to "Roses are red, roses are blue!" Australian scientists have just recently discovered that when they put a chemical from a blue flower into a rose, they can create nearly 100% blue rose. some of science's inventions are beautiful, not just useful!

Since the mid-1990s,many Chinese farmers have had amazing rice harvests. For many years, Chinese scientists have been working on developing new kinds of stronger rice and now they have produced a new kind, called super rice. Super rice not only can protect itself against insects and diseases, but it also produces more than any other kind of rice. Today farmers can grow almost one and a half times more rice than they could grow in the past.

Doctors might be able to use vegetables to fight cancer now. US scientists have discovered a way to put a chemical into tomato plants while they are growing. When cancer patients eat the tomatoes, the tomatoes will fight the cancer in their bodies. These cancer-fighting vegetables are not yet for sale, because scientists have not finished testing them. If the study finds no problems with the tomatoes, then patients can begin to use this easy and delicious new treatment.
