You might be asleep but part of your brain is not. It’s carefully keeping time for you. In the morning, a thing called PER is released (释放), which slowly wakes you up, often right before your alarm clock is set to go off. Sleep-talking can include some broken noises or complete sentences. About 5 percent of adults do it. It happens to children more often. And fever, stress, worries or sadness may lead to it.
Most people grind ( 磨 碎 ) their teeth while they are asleep, at least sometimes. An unusual bite or even sleep apnea ( 窒 息 ) may lead to this habit. Most people are not aware of this until the doctor tells them. If you harm your teeth at night, your dentist can give you a mouth guard to prevent it.
You think you’re resting, but your brain is doing some serious housekeeping every single night. While you are asleep, your brain clears out some memories and organizes others again. The brain also cleans itself and moves away unnecessary and harmful things.
Your muscles ( 肌 肉 ) are frozen for part of every night. In fact, it’s okay to be paralyzed ( 瘫 痪 的 ) during sleep. During rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, your brain is busy dreaming.
