195 countries reached an agreement on December 12 to do with climate(气候) change. It’s the first time in history that most of the world’s countries, rich or poor, agreed to take action. The meeting lasted two weeks. The agreement sets the long-time goal of making sure the world temperature does not get 2°C higher than the levels in the 1800s. Otherwise there will be serious problems on Earth like natural disasters.
The agreement also asks countries to volunteer to make promises based on each country’s economy(经济), politics and technology. For developed countries, they will do even more. They have a plan to offer over $100 billion (about 647 billion yuan) to help poorer countries develop clean energy like water and wind power.
Besides, there are some legally binding (法律约束的) rules. Those countries need to set national goals for cutting greenhouse gas emissions (排放) every five years. And they will publicly report their progress every five years starting in 2023.
However, the Paris Agreement alone won’t solve the climate change problem. The future depends on how well each country will carry out their promises.

People need to eat food, drink water, wear clothes, watch TV, use computers and so on every day. While we are doing these, we are producing waste every moment. We must think up ways to deal with the waste properly, or they will pollute our world. This morning, our class held a class meeting to discuss how to deal with the waste. The following are the three students’ ways to solve the waste.
Kate: Recycle them
In my everyday life, I often have a lot of waste things, like broken slippers (拖鞋), old computers, old newspapers and so on. I always collect them to recycling center. I can not only deal with the waste in a good way, but also can get some pocket money by selling them.
Sally: Store them
Every day I must buy some food to cook meals for my family. After the meals some vegetables and meat are left on the table. Because nobody wants to eat them again, I have to throw them as waste. I always store them at the corner of my garden. Some time later, they will become the plants excellent food.
John: Burn them to make electricity (电)
I am an engineer in an electronic factory. We collect tons of rubbish every day and put them in the stove(炉). Then we will burn the rubbish and use the heat to make electricity. In this way, we can change the rubbish into electricity. We can save a lot of resource (能源).
