【题目】He_________ for two years. We are still sad about his_________.

A.died, deadB.died , deathC.has been dead , deadD.has been dead, death

It was a beautiful, sunny Saturday. I was going to meet an old university friend I hadn’t seen for years. My train was running a little late, but that was no big problem – I could text him to tell him. He would understand. But ... where was my mobile phone? I had that familiar terrible feeling. Yes, I’d forgotten to take it with me when I left home.

No mobile phone. I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling worried when I don’t have my phone with me. In fact, I know I’m not alone: 66% of us experience “nomophobia”, the fear of being without one’s mobile phones. That’s according to a study of a survey in the UK about their relationship with mobile phones. It says we check our mobile phones 34 times a day, and women are more “nomophobia” than men. 77% of them say they are unable to be apart (分开) from their phones for more than a few minutes.

It’s funny to think that around 30 years ago the only people with mobile phones would be business people carrying their large “bricks (砖头)”. Of course, these days, mobile phones are everywhere. And when there are more phones than people in the world, maybe it’s time to ask yourself, “Are you in control of your phone, or does your phone control you?”

So, what happened to my university friend? When I arrived a few minutes late he just laughed and said, “You haven’t changed at allstill always late!” We had a great afternoon, full of jokes and stories, and I forgot about my phone. Not having it with me felt strangely free. Maybe I’ll leave it at home again next time.

【题目】

ALife isn’t a competition. B. Fight for a better life with a strong wish.

C. Love should be your rule. D. Be thankful and feel hopeful about life.

E. Life can be cruel at times. F. Be open to life anyway.

Dear Seth,

You’re only three years old, and at this point in your life you can’t read. But I’ve been thinking a lot about the life that you have ahead of you. The following is my advice. Someday when you’re ready, I hope you will find some wisdom and value in what I share with you.

1

You are young, and life is sometimes painful. Just throw disappointments and pain into your path. Be thankful. You are at a wonderful stage of life. You have many wonderful stages of life which still come even if they are along with their costs and great dangers.

2

There will be people in your life who won’t be very nice because you’re different, or for no good reason. There will be times when you are met with disappointment rather than success. Life won’t always turn out the way you want. I hope you don’t have to face this too much, but it happens, I suggest you let these pains become stepping stones.

3

Yes, you’ll find suffering in your journey through life, but don’t let that close you to new things. Be open to new things, experiences and people. You might get your heart broken ten times but find the most wonderful woman the 11th time. If you close yourself off to new people, who will be there during the toughest times of your life and create some of the best times of your life.

4

You will meet many people who will try to be better than you in school, in college, at work. They’ll try to have nicer cars, bigger houses, nicer clothes and so on. Here is a secret: Life is a journey. You don’t have to do better than your peers to be happy. Instead, learn to enjoy the journey. Make it a journey of happiness, of lifelong learning, of continual improvement, of love.

5

If there is a single word you should live your life by, it should be this: Love. It, I know, might sound boring, but trust me, there is no better rule in life. Some would live by the rule of success. Their lives will be stressful and unhappy. Others would live by the rule of selfishness. They will live lonely and unhappy lives. You should love your wife or husband, children, parents, friends, with all of your heart. Love not only your loved ones, but your neighbors, coworkers, strangers, even your enemies. And most of all, love yourself and learn to love yourself for who you are.

Finally, know that I love you and always will. You are starting out on a scary but wonderful journey. And I will be there for you when I can.
