I'll never forget the days when I camped (野营) with my classmates last summer.Early in the morning, 200 children from the 4th grade gathered at the bus station. After saying goodbye to our parents, we stood in line to get on the buses. It was more than two hours after we arrived at the campground.

We got off the buses cheerfully like birds flying out of their cages. Laughing and shouting, we jumped and ran all over the place. For us, it was our first time to be away from Dad and Mom. Some started feeling homesick(想家) even before dark. But as the night party and dances began, the homesickness was gone.

The next day, everyone rushed to the boating class, hoping to be at the head of the others. At first, my friends and I worked hard, but the boat wouldn't listen to us and kept going round and round . Then the boating teacher taught us how to work together. After many tries, we did better.

Swimming class was my favorite. It was about one o'clock, the warmest time of a day and the best time to stay in the cool water. The swimming teacher was an interesting man. During the class he often made us shout happily.

A week passed before we knew it. During the week I learned many new things and made many new friends. I also learned to take care of myself without parents around me.

Is it ever OK to lie to a child? My 10-year-old son plays soccer. He’s not very good, but he loves it. Yesterday he played very 75 . When he finished the game, he asked, “Did I play well?” I said, “Yes! You are a great soccer player!” Did I go the right thing?

Yes, you did the right thing. White lies are a(n) 76 part of life. Sometimes you have to tell lies that do no harm. Your purpose was to make him feel good. Now he’s ready to play soccer again.

I don’t think there is ever a good reason to lie to our children. Children learn honesty from the 77 they see. As parents, we should be honest in order to teach honesty to our children. Every lie requires five more ties. If you keep hiding truth from them, they will not 78 you. They will not respect you. Honesty is the first step to a good parent-child relationship.

You lied to make your son feel better, but you 79 a good chance to teach him a life lesson. People should work hard for what they want. Maybe next time you can say, “No, you didn’t play well today. Great soccer players practice a lot. Let’s go and practice.” The truth will make him 80 and a good soccer player.

Parents should be honest to their children, but they don’t have to tell the whole truth. Next time when your son asks, “Did I play well?” you may say. “What do you think?” Then your son can tell you what he thinks. That way, everything you say is true, and you avoid truth that hurts.
