　　Little Peter is a boy of nine．He began to go to school last year and now he is in Grade Two．He lives not far from the school but he's often late for class．He likes watching TV in the evening and goes to bed late , so he can't get up early in the morning．

　　This term Mrs．Black , Peter's aunt , works in Peter's school．She teaches Grade Two English．She often tells the boy to obey the school rules(遵守校规)and come to school in time．Yesterday morning Peter got up late．When he got to school , it was a quarter past eight．His aunt was waiting for him at the school gate．

　　“You are ten minutes late for the first class , Peter ,” Mrs．Black said angrily(生气地)．“Why are you often late for class?”

　　“Every time when I get to the street corner , I see a guidepost(指路牌)．It says ‘SCHOOL-GO-SLOW(慢)!'”

　　Life is very difficult for many young people in South Korea．It is very important for people to go to a good university and find a good job．So study is very important．Young people get up at about six, have breakfast with their family, and then go to school．School in South Korea start at seven．

　　After five hours of lessons in the morning, it is time for lunch．Most people have lunch at school．Then there are more lessons until six．But that is not end．Many people in South Korea go to the libraries and study from about eight to eleven or twelve, when the libraries close．

　　At that time they go home in a special minibus．Most students don't go to bed before one or two, and then the next day, after just four or five hours of sleep, it is time to get up．

　　Betty is a student at a high school．She lives a busy life every day．

　　Every morning, she has to get up at a quarter past six．She has about forty minutes to get ready to leave for school．After a quick breakfast, she hurries to school, and it takes her about another forty minutes to get to school by bus．When she gets to school, it's nearly 8 o'clock．

　　She has four lessons in the morning and three in the afternoon．Of course, she has many subjects：Chinese, Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry and three others．Of all the subjects, she likes English best, and she is very good at it．But she always gets higher marks in Chinese than in English．

　　At three o'clock in the afternoon, she can spend one hour having sports．Then she goes home．

　　As Mum is very busy, she always gets home late．Betty has to prepare dinner for her parents and her younger brother．After dinner, she may have a rest, and her brother washes the dishes．She usually watches TV at this time．

　　After that, she usually spends one and a half hours doing her homework．Then, she plays the piano for at least thirty minutes．

　　She usually goes to bed at about nine fifteen．

　　Mr Green lives in a town but works in a factory outside another town．It's about twenty kilometers away from his house．He has a car but he thinks it safer to take a slow train and he can read some newspapers in it．

　　Every morning Mr Green goes to the station along a muddy(泥泞)road．When he gets there his shoes are always dirty．So he always puts a pair of clean shoes in his bag and goes to the station in the old ones．Then he takes them off and asks his friend who works at the station to keep them for him and he gets on the train in the clean shoes．

　　This morning Mr Green got up early．After breakfast he had a look at his watch．It was only five past seven．“There is ten minutes left,”Mr Green said to himself and began to read the newspaper．“Oh, dear!”called out his wife．“It's nearly half past seven!Why not start?”

　　Mr Green looked at the clock on the wall and found his watch was slow．He hurried off．When he got to the station, the train was leaving．He took off his old shoes and threw them to his friend and quickly got on the train before it started．He found a seat and was going to put on his clean shoes．Bad luck!He's forgotten to put them into his bag．
