摘要:5.The story told us that .A.success comes from hard work B.it’s easy to translate a book C.the best way to learn Japanese is to go to Japan D.everyone should translate books(C) I left home for New Zealand to start my new life on my l5th birthday. My father and mother took me to Hong Kong.where we had to say goodbye. When we were saying goodbye.I suddenly felt afraid that I had never had before. This was the first time I had traveled so far by myself. And going to a far―away place I have never been before made me feel terrible.I held back my tears until I could no longer see my parents. As l was wiping awaymy tears.I realizedthat.from that moment off.I would have to do everything by myself. After my arrival in Wellington.my teacher.Ms Lang.showed me around my new school.A few days later.1 started having classes. There were only 20 students in each class. Only Maths.science.social studiesand English were compulsory.and students could choose other subjects for themselves.I chose music.Japanese and health. In New Zealand.students are very active in class. And teachers are not so serious. They often let us play games in class. We can sit with anyone we like.and the teacher can sit at her own desk or at a student's desk. The school had an easy manner.with few rules.Because there was no homework.we could join clubs or do anything we liked.I always went to the library after school.where I found a lot of books to help with my studies. Studying in New Zealand is very different from studying in China. In New Zealand.students depend onthe library to gain knowledge instead of waiting for what teachers ask them to do. Time went fast. The two months after I arrived flew by.Then a week of exams began. I did not have to take these exams.because I had only been at the school for a short time. However.my Maths teacher encouraged me to take the Maths exam.as she thought I could do well.Though there wasn't much pressureoff me.1 worked very hard to get ready for the exam because I know that no pain means no gain. When the day of the exam came.I found that I finished the paper faster than the other students. One week later.my teacher told the whole class who had got the top mark:It was me! I got 94 percent. All my classmates were very happy and said congratulations to me.It was one of the happiest days of my life.

Once a small boy lived on a farm which seemed so far away from everywhere.

He needed to get up before sunrise every morning to help his father on the farm. During sunrise he would .a break and climb up on the fence(篱笆)along the side of the farm. He could see a house with golden windows. “If they could afford golden windows, then there must be other nice things inside the house.” He imagined how great it would be to live there. Then he promised himself, “Some day 1 will go there and see this wonderful place.”

One morning, his father would go to the town and told him to stay at home for a rest. Knowing that this was his chance, he took a sandwich and headed across the field towards the house with the golden windows.

As the afternoon went on, he began to know how wrong he was. The house was much farther than he had expected. As he went near the house, he saw no golden windows but instead a place in bad need of a painting. A small girl very close to his age came out of the poor house and stood by the broken fence. He asked her if she had seen the house with the golden windows. The girl said, “Sure, I know.” and invited him to sit on the porch (门廊).As he sat there, he looked back from where he just came. When I was seven years old my mom was diagnosed(诊断) with cancer. The doctors told us my mom might be saved with surgery(手术). But it could also kill her. She chose to have it.
The day before the surgery I was off school, and my mom planned the best day of my life, everything I loved at seven and everything that would put a smile on my face. The day began with her waking me up saying, “Kate, I have a surprise for you. Come and see.” The surprise was a doll I had wanted for the longest time. Throughout the day, she told me everything that she thought I would need to know to grow up and be a good person; she told me to be the best I could be and that I would always make her proud. We had a picnic in the park, and it was so cold that we moved to the car. The day was filled with laughter. For the first time in a long time I could see she was really happy. I would never forget her smile, or the way her eyes shone as if we were the same age. It was the best day of my life, and I will never forget the conversations we shared.
My mother managed to live through the surgery. Now when I look back, I realize that the best day of my life could be her last and this could be the last day I would remember with her, the last one we shared. I also understand how unselfish a mother is.
