Peter's job was to examine cars when they crossed the frontier (边界) to make sure that they were not smuggling (走私) anything into the country. When I was 18 years old, one morning, my father told me to drive him into a town, about 40 miles away. I had just learned to 36 ，so I agreed with pleasure.
