We have now been in Australia for five days. The plane trip was great. The weather here is lovely! People complain that it is too hot but it is not nearly as hot here as it's been at home lately. We were supposed to stay at a hotel in the city but we moved to Bondi Beach, which is 8 kilometers from the city. It takes half an hour by bus from the centre of Sydney. We’ve been swimming every day-- the water here is so refreshing. Yesterday we went to Taronga Park Zoo which is only a short ferry ride across Sydney Harbour. We saw koalas(树袋熊) and kangaroos (袋鼠) and many other Australian animals. You wouldn't believe it, but while I was eating a sandwich for lunch a kookaburra (笑翠鸟) swooped down and stole my sandwich from the table right in front of me. We all laughed although it left me feeling a little bit hungry all afternoon. From the chair lift we had a close up view of the magnificent giraffes (长颈鹿). The animals in that zoo certainly have a great view of Sydney. From the elephant enclosure you can see the Harbour Bridge, the beautiful Opera House and the city of Sydney gleaming (若隐若现地) across the harbour. Wang Ling, a middle school girl, felt angry with her parents after getting a boy’s phone call. “A classmate called me to discuss homework. We talked for just a few minutes before my parents got mad,” said the girl. “They asked whether I liked the boy. I’m sad Ididn’t, but they wouldn’t believe me.”
Wang’s trouble is not strange at all because puppy love becomes a big headache for both parents and schools. They worry that puppy love will be bad for their study. Her school makes it a rule not to allow any talk or any physical contact between one boy and one girl alone.
Many students say they understand why parents and teachers are so nervous about puppy love. But some think they are going too far. “We have our own thoughts and we know what to do with it.” said Wang Ling.
Another girl, Jiang Ting, liked making friends with boys. “Boys and girls can learn from each other,” she said. “My mother asks me to study hard. However, she never stops me from making friends with boys.” Once Jiang Ting told her mother she might fall in love with a boy. Her mother let Jiang make her own decision. Soon Jiang found that she didn’t like him any more because the boy was not as good as what she had thought before. And she did worse and worse in her subjects because she spent much on it. At last she understood the worry from school and most parents about puppy love.

I am not sure when I started listening to the radio. In the evening, I like listening to some talk programmes. The host’s (主持人的) beautiful voice makes me relax. The host often has the same feelings as the audience about love, friendship, life and so on. I am often moved (被感动) to tears. I usually go to bed at 9:30 pm and then I begin to listen to the play on the radio in bed. I can only listen to the sound, but I am always interested in guessing who they are and what they look like. I often fall asleep while listening. During lunch and supper time, I listen to the radio, too.
I like listening to music because it can make me quiet. I also like thinking about something while listening to music, for example, what I shall do tomorrow, that I have to call my family tonight and that I should send short messages to my friends on Christmas Day.
