How often do you let other people’s nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, impolite waiter, rude boss, or an insensitive(迟钝的)employee 36 your day?
One day I was in a taxi and we headed 37 the airport. We were driving in the 38 lane when suddenly a black car drove out of a parking space right in front of us.My taxi driver slammed on his 39 ,slid sideways, and at the very last moment our car stopped and 40 the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car looked around and started 41 at us.
My taxi driver just 42 and waved at the guy.And I mean he was really 43 .So I asked,“Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!” This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call “The Law of the Garbage Truck”(垃圾车定律).
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of 44 ,full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage 45 up,they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on 46 . Don’t take it personally: Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.
Believe me. You’ll be 47 .Don’t take their garbage and 48 it to other people at work, at home,or on the streets.Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with 49 . The mark of your success is how quickly you can refocus on what’s 50 in your life, Roy Baumeister,a psychology researcher from Florida State University, found in his extensive research that you 5l bad things more often than good things in your life, you store the bad memories more easily, and you 52 them more frequently.
Therefore, love the people who treat you right and ignore the ones who don’t.Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you 53 it!
When you follow “The Law of the Garbage Truck”, you take back control of your life! You make room for the good by 54 go of the bad.Have a marvelous,garbage-free day! The seeds you plant today 55 the harvest you will reap tomorrow.

I can still remember the first day when I met my best friend. I hid behind my mother and she hid behind her grandmother, 1 to look at each other. But we soon lost the 2 and started playing with each other. In the 7th grade, I first lost touch with her. She was 3 family problems and I deserted her to be with the “cooler people”. 4 of my new friends like her as much as I did 5 they knew she had “problems”. However, every summer we would 6 sit at each other’s house and watch soap operas and talk about everything we liked.
It was last year when I 7 the problem. I guessed I was just too busy to catch up in high school to realize she 8 someone there for her. Well, she made a new “best friend” and so did I. Then I didn’t know why, but she started cutting herself!
She was diagnosed with clinical depression(抑郁症). I was very 9 at first, but with the late night calls, we still stayed in 10 . I wanted to be there for her since her new best friend 11 deserted her, since people were calling her 12 , and I knew I still 13 her like a sister.

We both cried. And I guess a kind of lesson from my life so far is to never 20 your friends.

查看习题详情和答案>>There is one type of illness in the world that affects more people than anything else and is very deadly. If untreated this illness could affect everything you do. What is this illness? Depression. Serious depression requires professional treatment. Self-induced depression is something each of us can change.
Everyone's circumstances are different, but the causes of self-induced depression are common: low self-esteem, hurtful thinking and a bad attitude.
So how can we change the way we think, feel, and cultivate a cheerful attitude?
First we must look at ourselves, truly and honestly examining our motives for what we wish to achieve. If you are dissatisfied because you feel you haven't or can't do anything, then one step is needed - to set goals.
Always start your goals relatively small and easy to attain. Think of them as sand; one grain may be insignificant but as a group they form the beach. Once you have set and attained small goals for yourself, move on to slightly larger, more challenging goals.
It takes more than just setting goals to be happy. It takes positive thinking. How can we attain this?
There are a number of factors that can make us think negatively and one of those is diet.
In my opinion, a person who eats a lot of take out and fast food is feeding their body junk. Start by eating better foods which give the body much NEEDED minerals. If your physical body is happy, it's much easier for your mental body or "thinking ability" to be happy.
Next, exercise. A half-hour a day is recommended for positive well being. Then think about good memories you had, or generally think of things that make you smile. Remember, everything you wear costs money but to wear a smile is free. A smile can be the difference between an average day and a great day.
If you follow these steps, positive change is inevitable.
1.Which of the statements about depression is TRUE?

we shouldn’t be satisfied with small goals that are insignificant
