A few days ago, I was having a meeting in my company. After walking out, I 36  for my car keys in my pocket, only to discover they were not there. 37 , I gave myself a quick personal pat   38  my clothes, but they were not in 39  of my pockets. So, I went back to the meeting room and looked for them in every place _ 40_I had been. Suddenly it occurred to me that I must have left them in the car. “Ken,” she shouted, “I dropped you off!”
Now it was my time to be silent. 53 , I said, “In that case, would you please come and  54  
your dear husband?”
Diane answered, “I will... just as soon as I can have this policeman  55 I didn’t steal your car.”

A little boy asked his mother, “Why are you crying?” “Because I’m a woman,” she told him.
“I don’t understand,” he said. His mum just hugged him and said, “You  36 will.”
Later the little boy asked his father, “Why does my mother seem to cry for no reason?” “All women cry for no reason,”  37  so much could his dad say.
The little boy grew up and became a man, still  38  why women cry.  39  he gave a call to God, and when God got on the phone, he asked, “God, why do women cry so  40 ?”
God said, “When I made the woman she had to be  41 . I made her shoulders 42 enough to carry the weight of the world; yet, gentle enough to give  43 .”

A Leap（跳跃）to Honor
Leaping on a narrow balance beam（平衡木） is not easy. But Lola Walter, a 13-year-old gymnast, is an expert at it.
To perfect her skills, Lola   36   for four hours a day, five days a week. At the state championships in March, she finished seventh out of 16 girls.
That’s especially impressive,          37    she is legally blind, born with a rare condition that causes her eyes to shift constantly. She often sees double and can’t _38   how far away things are.
When she was little, her mom   39  that even though she couldn’t see         40   , she was fearless. So her mom signed her up for gymnastics when she was three. She loved the    41    right away and gymnastics became her favorite.
Though learning gymnastics has been more    42   for her than for some of her tournaments, she has never quit. She doesn’t let her _43  stop her from doing anything that she wants to.
She likes the determination it takes to do the sport. Her biggest          44_ is the balance beam. Because she has double vision, she often sees two beams. She must use her sense of touch to help her during her routine. Sometimes she even closes her eyes. “You have to          45_ your mind that it’ll take you where you want to go,” says Lola.
To be a top-level gymnast, one must be brave. The beam is probably the most   46  for anyone because it’s four inches wide. At the state competition, Lola didn’t fall      47  the beam. In fact, she got an 8.1 out of 10---- her highest score yet.
Lola doesn’t want to be          48    differently from the other girls on her team. At the competitions, the judges don’t know about her vision _49 _. She doesn’t tell them, because she doesn’t think they need to know. Her mom is amazed by her _50          attitude.
Lola never thinks about   51__. She is presently at level 7 while the highest is level 10 in gymnastics. Her   52         is to reach level 9. She says she wants to be a gymnastics coach to pass down what she’s learned to other kids    53  she grew up.
Lola is   54  of all her hard work and success. She says it’s helped her overcome problems in her life outside gymnastics, too. Her   55        for others is “just believe yourself”.

A little boy invited his mother to attend his school’s first teacher-parent meeting. To the little boy’s   36 , she said she would go. This would be the first time that his classmates and teacher   37  his mother and he felt   38  of her appearance. Although she was a beautiful woman, there was a severe scar that   39  nearly the entire right side of her face. The boy never wanted to   40  why or how she got the scar.
At the meeting, the people were   41  by the kindness and natural beauty of his mother   
  42  the scar, but the little boy was still embarrassed and   43  himself from everyone. He did, however, get within hearing of a conversation between his mother and his teacher.
The teacher asked   44  , “How did you get the scar on your face?”
The mother replied, “   45  my son was a baby, he was in a room that   46  fire. Everyone was   47  afraid to go in because the fire was   48 , so I went in. As I was running toward his bed, I saw a long piece of wood coming down and I placed myself   49  him trying to protect him. I was knocked   50  but fortunately, a fireman came in and saved both of us. ” She   51  the burned side of her face. “This scar will be   52 , but to this day, I have never   53  what I did.”
At this point, the little boy came out running toward his mother with tears in his eyes. He   54  her in his arms and felt a great sense of the sacrifice that his mother had made for him. He held her hand   55  for the rest of the day.
