The day just before Father’s Day, Mrs Berry asked her students to make a card for their fathers. She 1 paper and pieces of cloth in shape of ties.
Elizabeth frowned(皱眉)at the tie-shaped cloth. Then she began to cut the cloth into a 2 shape. When Elizabeth finally finished and looked at the blackboard, she saw something else:“Anyone who doesn’t have a father could make a card for a grandfather or uncle.”She didn’t 3 when Mrs Berry wrote these words. She felt the face grow red-she was going to make her 4 upset.
As her teacher walked to her, Elizabeth tried 5 her card with her hand, but Mrs Berry gently lifted it.Elizabeth sat still, waiting to be scolded, but when she looked up she saw 6 in Mrs Berry’s eyes.
“I am sorry.I’ll make another card and bring it tomorrow.I 7 ,”Elizabeth said.
“What are you talking about?”asked Mrs Berry.
“My Father’s Day card.I didn’t do it 8 .”
“Elizabeth, that was the best card in the whole class. It was so sweet that is made me cry.”
On the front of the card was the piece of cloth 9 to look like a bow in her mother’s hair.Inside the card she had written:
