Last Monday, at the beginning of class, I   31  asked my students how their weekend had been. One young man said that his weekend had not been so   32 . He had his wisdom teeth removed. Then the young man asked me why I   33  seemed to be so cheerful.
His question reminded me of something I’d read somewhere before: “Every morning when you get up, you have a choice about   34  you want to approach life that day,” I said. “I choose to be cheerful.”
“Let me give you an example.   35  teaching here, I also teach out at the community college in Henderson, 17 miles down the freeway from where I live. One day, I drove those 17 miles to Henderson. I   36  the freeway and turned onto College Drive, only another quarter mile ahead to the college. But just then my car died. I tried to start it again, but the engine   37  turn over. So I put my flashers on, grabbed my books, and marched down the road to the college.”
“  38  getting there I called AAA and arranged for a tow truck to meet me at my car after class. The secretary asked me what had happened. ‘This is my lucky day,’ I replied, smiling.”
“ ‘Your car breaks down and today is your lucky day?’ She was   39 . ‘What do you mean?’ ’’ “I live 17 miles from here.” I replied. “My car   40  have broken down   41  along the freeway. It didn’t.   42 , it broke down in the perfect place: off the freeway,   43  walking distance of here. I’m still able to teach my class, and I’ve been able to arrange for the tow truck to meet me after class.”
“The secretary’s eyes opened wide, and then she    44 . I smiled back and headed for class.” So ended my story.
I scanned the sixty faces in my class. Despite the early hour, no one seemed to be   45 . Somehow, my story had touched them.

It was a warm March evening，and I’d just taken a seat on the bus that would take me home．It was nearly 6：00 PM，but the bus was not yet full and the driver gave no  26  that he intended to start the bus．
A middle-aged woman took a seat opposite me . She was crying．Not speaking to anyone in particular，she   27 told her story．
She had come to the city to visit her daughter．On the way to the terminal(终点站)，a thief had _28_ one of her bags．It had contained half of the money she’d brought with her．The other half was hidden under her blouse, so she _29_ still had some money left．The bus conductor，driver，and other passengers listened to her tale．

On the road of life，the politeness and smiles of _45__ can lighten our loads and lift our spirits．How much sweeter the journey when we make it a little smoother and richer for others !

First of all, successful language learners are independent learners. They  31  their own way to learn the language. Instead of  32 for the teachers to explain, they try to find the pattern and rules for themselves. They are good  33 who look for clues and form their own conclusions. When they guess wrong, they guess again. They try to learn from their mistakes.        
Secondly,   34  language learners are active in  35 , therefore, they do not wait for a chance to use the languages, and they look for such a chance. They find people who speak the language and let those people  36 them when they make a  37 . They will try anything to communicate. They are not afraid to repeat what they hear or to say  38  things which sound weird. They are willing to make mistakes and try again, when communication is difficult. On my birthday this year, I decided to do something very different. I had been   31  so much and I wanted to reach out to bring happiness to someone else.
