Read the following passage.Answer the questions according to the information given in the passage.

Noah Webster published his first dictionary of the English language in 1806, and in 1828 published the first edition of his An American Dictionary of the English Language. The work came out in 1828 in two volumes. It contained 12,000 words from 30,000 to 40,000 definitions(定义)that had not appeared in any earlier dictionary. In 1840 the second edition, corrected and enlarged, came out, in two volumes. He completed the revision(修订)of an appendix(附录)a few days before his death, which occurred in New Haven on the 28th of May 1843.

Webster changed the spelling of many words in his dictionaries in an attempt to make them more phonetic(音形一致).Many of the differences between American English and other English variants(变体)evident today originated this way.The modern convention of having only one acceptable and correct spelling for a word is due mostly to the efforts of Webster, in standardizing spelling.Previous to this, the popular viewpoint on spelling might have best been summed up by Benjamin Franklin who said that he “had no use for a man with but one spelling for a word.

Webster’s dictionary was so popular that “Webster’s” became synonymous(同义的)with dictionary to many Americans. As a result, the Webster’s name lost trademark protection and is now used by many publishers in the titles of their dictionaries.Among these, the Merriam-Webster’s dictionary is considered to be the most direct example of Noah Webster’s lexicographical(词典编纂的)tradition, the Merriam brothers having purchased the rights to revise the dictionary from Webster’s heirs(继承人)upon his death.

Paparazzi, or "paps", are photographers who take pictures of famous people when they are not at the center of public attention. Paps are different from professional photographers or journalists because they never take ordinary photos.
The goal for paparazzi is to get pictures that no one else will get and then sell the pictures to the buyer who offers the most money —normally a small newspaper, magazine or website.
There is no law against paparazzi taking pictures in public places. However, there are laws that protect certain individuals. For example, child protection laws stop improper (不合适的) pictures of anyone under 16 from being published.
There is also no law that stops paparazzi from following celebrities (名人) and taking their pictures either. However, if paps are secretly following them and taking pictures of their faces, they could get into trouble.
Most paparazzi hang out on streets and hot spots for celebrities, waiting for the opportunity to take a picture of a star. Many stay on the streets until the early hours of the morning when celebrities are leaving nightclubs and looking a little worse for wear. However, some have other ways to make sure they get pictures. Many paps are in contact with "informers" who know the locations of celebrities at any given time. They then pass the information on to paparazzi. An informer could be anyone —from a restaurant waiter to a salesman.
Most of the time, paparazzi get a bad reputation for following celebrities. But sometimes stars or their managers will contact paps themselves and tell them exactly where and when they will go.
What a love-hate relationship between paparazzi and celebrities!

Your Excellency, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I take great pleasure in formally welcoming you and Madam Liu to Buckingham Palace on the occasion of your State Visit to the United Kingdom. You are certainly no stranger to the United Kingdom. This will be your second visit this year, and I also met Your Excellency when you visited as Vice-President in 2001.

It is now almost twenty years since I visited China.Since then China's development has caught the world's attention and admiration. It matters to all of us what kind of country China's people will build, what role they will play in the world of 'the twenty-first century, and how this will be sensed by others.

China's growth brings with it difficult challenges for you and your government, but also great opportunities.During her visit in September, The Princess Royal saw both the flagship cities of Beijing and Shanghai and the efforts of government and non-governmental organizations to reduce poverty in rural areas of Anhui and Gansu.I am delighted that China was able to join discussions earlier this year on poverty relief in Africa, sharing with the global community your own remarkable experience in this area.

In those twenty years, the world has changed too. When I visited China in 1986, we had no knowledge that the Cold War was so close to its end and we knew little then of the significance of global warming. Now we are able to work together and in the international community to solve problems of environmental protection and sustainable (可持续的) development...

To His Excellency the President of the people's Republic of China and Madam Liu and the Chinese people.
