Scholars and students have always been great travelers. The official case for “academic mobility” is now often stated in impressive terms as a fundamental necessity for economic and social progress in the world, and debated in the areas of Europe, but it is certainly nothing new. Serious students were always ready to go abroad in search of the best teachers and the most famous academies; in search of the purest philosophy, the most effective medicine, the likeliest road to gold
Mobility of this kind meant also mobility of ideas, their moving across borders, their simultaneous  (同时发生的)impact upon many groups of people. The point of learning is to share it, whether with students or with colleagues; one thinks that only eccentrics have no interest in being credited(相信) with a striking discovery, or a new technique. It must also have been comforting to know that other people in other parts of the world were about to make the same discovery or were thinking along the same lines, and that one was not quite alone, faced by question, ridicule or neglect.
In the twentieth century, and particularly in the last 20 years, the old footpaths of the wandering scholars have become vast highways. The vehicle which has made this possible has of course been the aeroplane, making contact between scholars even in the most distant places immediately available, and providing for the very rapid transmission of knowledge.
Apart from the vehicle itself, it is fairly easy to identify the main factors which have brought about the recent explosion in academic movement. Some of these are purely quantitative and require no further mention: there are far more centres of learning, and a far greater number of scholars and students.
In addition one must recognize the very considerable increase of all kinds of subjects, particularly in the sciences, which by widening the total area of advanced studies has produced an enormous number of specialists whose particular interests are precisely defined. These people would work in some isolation if they were not able to keep in touch with similar isolated groups in other countries.
71.It can be concluded from the passage that"academic mobility"_____.
A.means the friendship formed by scholars on the trip
B.is a program carried out by governments
C.has been put great emphasis on in the world
D.means going abroad in search of the best teachers

A.a rather strange person                              B.a person of no exceptional ability
C.an ambitious person                                  D.peculiar or unusual
73.In the eyes of the author, what happens to a scholar who shares his ideas with his
colleagues?
A.He risks his ideas being stolen.                   B.He gains recognition for his achievement
C.He is considered as an eccentric.                 D.He is credited with a striking discovery.
74.According to the passage, the recent growth in air travel has meant that_____.

For 16-year-old Li Miaomiao, sore feet from wearing high heels for hours at a time and an achy jaw from constant smiling are worth the chance of presenting a medal to hang around an athlete’s neck during the Beijing Olympics.

The willow-thin high school student is one of 34 Chinese girls“training”to be an Olympic medal presenter at the Beijing Foreign Affairs School(BFAS), one of several state-run colleges charged with producing camera-friendly girls for awards ceremonies.

When not balancing books on her head to improve posture(体态)during medal presentation rehearsal(预演)sessions, Li and her class-mates study English, receive cultural training and look at pictures of past medal presenters and their uniforms.

Most important for Li, though, is the smile.

“I practice at home, and smile to the mirror for an hour every day,”Li said, beaming radiantly in a red waistcoat and high heels on the sidelines of a class.“I want to present my smile to the world, and let them know that the Chinese smile is the warmest.”

Apart from common-sense communication tips, such as looking directly at someone while talking to them, students are also informed the perfect smile consists of“only showing the eight top teeth”.

For Li Miaomiao, the perfect smile comes naturally – after having practiced for hours in the mirror. It no doubt helped Li become one of only seven girls chosen from dozens of applicants to present medals to winning boxers at an Olympic test event.

Being 16, Li is technically ineligible to become an Olympic medal presenter, where guidelines call for 18-25 year-old university students. But she rates herself a competitor, anyway.“I’m very confident.I think I have an 80 percent chance,”she said, flashing a winning smile.

Doctors estimate that about 40 % of women over thirty in Britain are overweight . This figure may well be misleading as certainly large numbers of overweight people never seek medical advice .

Many women are very worried about being overweight . They feel that it shows a lack of will-power or self-control on their part. In addition, fat women do not conform to the modem ideal of beauty exemplified by fashion models and young film stars who are all incredibly thin.

Apart from aesthetic reasons, there are strong medical grounds for not overeating. Overweight people are prone to heart disease and are easily tired by physical activity . Losing weight would certainly make them feel healthier and increase their life expectancy .

Some women feel guilty about being fat and their guilt is repressed by eating more. It is a vicious circle. On the other hand, there are women who unnecessarily lose weight in order to conform to a model of social acceptability. Some of them end up by starving themselves to death!
