We often talk about ourselves as if we have permanent genetic defects(缺陷) that can never be changed. “I’m impatient.” “I’m always behind.” “I always put things 1 !” You’ve surely heard them. Maybe you’ve used them to describe ___2 .
These comments may come from stories about us that have been 3 for many years—often from 4 childhood. These stories may have no 5 in fact. But they can set low expectations for us. I was never 7 to work on cars or be around 8 . When I was 18, I took the US Army’s Mechanical Aptitude Test. My scores were in the bottom for the entire nation!
Six years later, 9 , I was at California University, working on my doctors degree. One of my professors, Dr. Bob Tannbaum, asked me to write down things I did well and things I couldn’t do. On the positive side, I 10 down, “research, writing, analysis, and speaking.” On the 11 side, I wrote, “I have no mechanical skills.”
Bob asked me how I knew I had no mechanical skills. I explained my life 12 and told him about my 13 performance on the Army test. Bob then asked, “ 14 is it that you can solve 15 mathematical problems, but you can’t solve simple mechanical problems?”
Suddenly I realized that I didn’t 16 from some sort of genetic defect. I was just living out expectations that I had chosen to 17 . At that point, it wasn’t just my family and friends who had been 18 my belief that I was mechanically hopeless. And it wasn’t just the Army test, either. I was the one who kept telling myself, “You can’t do this!” I realized that as long as I kept saying that, it was going to remain true. 19 , if we don’t treat ourselves as if we have incurable genetic defects, we can do well in almost 20 we choose.

When you stretch out in the sun you can do one of three things.
You can use no sun tan oil. You can use an ordinary sun tan oil. Or you can use Bergasol.
If you don't use any sun tan oil at all when you're in sun that is stronger than you're used to, you will burn surprisingly quickly.
If you use an ordinary sun tan oil you will protect your skin to a lesser or greater degree. How much depends on the“protection factor(系数)number”on the bottle.
Some of these oils block out so many of the sun's rays you can stay in the sun all day without burning--but you won't go very brown, either.
Bergasol will protect your skin like an ordinary sun tan oil. But Bergasol oil also has a tan accelerator(加速剂) which comes from the oil of the Bergamot fruit.
It speeds up the rate at which the sun activates(激活) the skin cells that produce melanin.
And it is melanin which gives the skin its brown colour.
So when you use Bergasol sun tan oil you go brown faster, and as the days pass the difference will become more and more obvious.
Unfortunately this special formulation isn't cheap to prepare. So Bergasol is rather more expensive than ordinary sun tan oil.
However the price looks more attractive as you do.
Protection
Many people imagine that“cover-up”means you don't get a tan. Nothing to show for your holiday. What a shame.
Not so. With“cover up”, you can get brown if you want to. The point of cover-up is to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun--the ones which, according to the experts, make your skin look older.
That's what Solex Cover-up is all about--protection for your skin. It has a Sun Protection Factor of 8, which makes it suitable for anyone.
Find 0ut how it works for you by consulting(咨询)the Solex Sun Chart. On sale wherever Solex is.
With Solex Cover-up, you can tan as slowly as you like. As gently as you like. And with much less chance of peeling.
Your tan will look better. Your skin will stay young longer. Solex Cover-up.
Gentle tan…full protection.

I once met a middle-aged stranger who said his money had been stolen at the railway station,so he had no money to go home. He begged for help from passers-by,but they all pretended not to have heard what he was saying and went by quickly. Then he stopped me and wanted me to give him the help. At first I could not accept that because I didn't think he was telling the truth. But when I saw tears in his eyes,I began to believe that he might be in the real trouble,so,just immediately I gave him all the money I had. When he took the money, his face turned red. Before he left,he expressed his great thanks and also said he would give back my money when he reached home.
When I came back to school and told my classmates about my story, they held different opinions. Some of them thought that I did a good deed(做了一件好事) to have given a hand to the person in trouble, while others said that I was cheated. Some even laughed at me and called me a fool who could not judge things in the right way. Now,I am really confused(困惑的)!
