Last month we bought our two-year-old daughter a little dog．There were few children of her age where we live, and we thought a dog would make her less lonely．We were right．They play together children in the house．Both of them are very dirty and they cry when they do not get what they want．The dog is easier to look after than my daughter－he always eats up all his food and we don't have many dirty clothes to wash．My wife is also very happy because I have given up smoking．The dog doesn't like the smell．

　　I had no classes this afternoon．My friends all went to the Summer Palace, but I didn’t join them．

　　After lunch, Aunt Huang came in and she looked worried．“My parents are coming,”she said,“and I have to go to the market．But my baby is asleep．I can’t leave her by herself．”

　　Mum and Dad were not at home．So I said, “Don’t worry．I can look after her．”

　　“Thank you, Xiao Feng”, she said, Then she left．

　　The baby was about ten months old．At first she was asleep．Half an hour later, she woke up and began to cry．“Don’t cry”, I said, I talked to her．But she looked at me and cried harder and harder．I turned on the radio．She stopped crying and listened to the music．After a while she started to cry again．I turned off the radio and said,“Listen to me．”I started to sing．The baby watched and listened, and she didn’t cry any more．Then I made faces and jumped like a monkey．The baby laughed and laughed happily．
