　　One bright summer morning，about thirty little boys and girls were walking along a bridge with their teacher Miss Green. They just reached the middle of the bridge when there was a great shout behind them. Miss Green told them to stop，and turned and listened.When she heard the cry “Mad (发疯的) Dog”，she saw the dog running to the bridge.

　　“Children，”said Miss Green，“keep close to the wall of the bridge. Don't move or cry.” Then she went and stood before the boys and girls.

　　The animal came，and a man with a gun (枪) in his bands ran after it. Just when the dog rushed towards (朝) one of the little girls with its mouth widely open，Miss Green ran to the dog quickly and thrust (插，塞) her right hand into the dog's mouth. It bit(咬)her badly，but she kept her hand there until the man came near and shot(射击)the animal dead．

　　Several days later Miss Green died．She gave up her own life to save the lives of the children.
