All right! Enough cookies, Cola, and chips! It seems that junk food is all that the children want to eat these days.Television controls their 1 .The kids see well-known people 2 potato chips, candy and other processed food, and they want to 3 their heroes. How do they do it?They eat the same food.I wish there were more characters like old Popeye, the sailor, who ate spinach and not French fries.

Now I don’t expect my children to eat healthy food because I like brown rive(糙米),beans, and fresh vegetables.I’m glad to cook traditional meals of meat and potatoes for them.I really can’t be too upset 4 the kids because most 5 aren’t careful about what they eat. 6 night, my wife and I went to a party where there was plenty to drink but very little for us to eat. They served hot dogs, with all those preservatives, and hamburgers 7 chemicals so that they looked better. 8 the meat, they had sugar-filled cookies and cake, and, of course, chips.I don’t want the world to change 9 me, but I think that people should realize that there are alternatives to eating meat. They always tell me that I probably don’t get my essential proteins.I feel better than 10 and I am sure that it’s because I am a vegetarian.I would really like to see more television advertisements which show the benefits of good, healthy, and natural food.

You want to know about my staying in America, right? Well, to tell you the truth, it is really an eye-opening experience to study here.

In China, I had English classes five times a week since fifth grade. However, I didn’t know how different textbook English could be from everyday English until I came to Hotchkiss School, Connecticut.

When I first studied English, I was told to say,” I am fine” when people say “How are you?” But in the US, I found that people say, “I am good” or “I’m tired”.

One day, someone greeted me with “What’s up?” It made me confused.I thought for a moment and then smiled because I didn’t know what to say.

Since then, I have discovered more and more differences between Chinese and US cultures.

To my surprise, US girls spend a lot of time in the burning sun to get a tan(晒黑).However, in China, girls try every possible way to get their skin paler, or “whiter”.

I was also surprised by how hardworking US students are.

In China, schoolwork is almost everything, so we study hard and that’s it.But here, a “good” student gets good grades, does a lot of for the public and plays sports or music.

The kids here are so talented, I am starting to be sorry that I gave up playing the piano at an early age and that I have never thought about sports.
