     Ken is nine this year. He's in Grade Three. His father is a driver in a factory and his mother works
in a hospital. His sister Kate is six.
     It's Saturday afternoon. Ken is sitting in the room and reading a book. Kate comes to the room
and says, "Ken! Mum wants you to help her."
     "What does she want me to do?" asks Ken. " To wash the apples or cut the cakes?"
     "Neither (两者都不)." answers Kate. "She is washing clothes in the garden. She wants you to

     "Why don't you do that?"
