He was not expecting a long visit to Indianapolis. But on his drive back to Niagara Falls, Danceic’s car will be filled with more confidence, a better world ranking and a$42, 800 US cheque after he finished second, a career best, in the competition.    .

“I’ ve never been able to put two wins together, never mind four, ”the 22-year-old said after losing 6-4, 7-5 to Dmitry Tursunov of Russia in Sunday’s final. “But I have a lot more confidence now.”

Tursunov, seeded third, never faced a break point and won in one hour and 16 minutes. In the first set, he broke with the score tied 1-1 and didn’t allow Danceic to fight his way back. In the second set he broke serve（发球）in the 11^th game and gained his second career t’title.

Danceic was the first Canadian to play in an ATP final since Greg Rusedski in 1995. “I didn’t play as well as I would have liked, though I am quite able to fight back,”he said.
