One day, a poor boy who was trying to pay his way through school by selling goods door to door found that he only had one dime left. He was hungry so he decided to 　31 a meal at the next house.

  “He was your father,” she answered.

  “No, he wasn’t. I never saw him before.”

  “I knew right away there was a mistake, but I also knew he needed his son, and his son just wasn’t here. I realized I was needed. So I stayed.”
