My First Job

　　 I was six when I joined my father and two elder brothers at sunrise in the fields of Eufaula. Okla. __1__ the time I was eight I was helping Dad fix up old furniture. He gave me a cent for every nail I __2__ out of old boards.

One afternoon, my son Adam asked me, “Are all people the same even if they are different in color?”

Once I thought love meant flowers, gifts and sweet kisses. So, I really 36 whether there is love between my parents. Every day they are very busy 37 to earn money to pay the high schooling for me.
