Mitsuaki recently arrived in the United States to enter university．He wants to do well in his studies anD． 1 to the new culture．But Mitsuaki has a 2 ．It’s not his roommates．It’s not his school fees．It’s not even his English ability．It is that he doesn’t have a 3 ．And in America, that really makes him a foreigner．Mitsuaki has already discovered a basic fact of American culture： 4 is a way of life．

When Mitsuaki first arrived, he was amazed at how young many American drivers 12 were．Young people in America often get their driver’s license around age 16 by 13 a written test and a driving test． 14 , before they can get their license, they have to take a driver education 15 , which gives students hands－on practice with driving．It also helps to reduce the high 16 of insurance．For teenagers, being able to drive－and in some cases, having their own car－is a big 17 ．It gives them a sense of power and freedom．It’s 18 to find an American teenager without one．
Driving to Americans is 19 flying to birds．It’s almost part of their nature．For many Americans, being 20 the wheel is like their natural home．
“It’s no use, Mum,”said Johnny．“I’m just no good at dancing．”
“You’ve got to keep trying．Tonight will be 1 , dear．Try a turn with that pretty Lisette．”
Johnny 2 ．Every Saturday night used to be the best of the week．He and his parents went to the 3 at the Club, where his hero, Alcide, played the accordion(手风琴)with the band．But lately everything had changed．Now that Johnny was older, he was 4 to dance with a girl!

At the Club, Johnny scanned the crowd for Lisette and 13 her．The band played for a long time before Alcide said,“Dear friends, I got a 14 for you tonight．Young Johnny is going to join us!” 15 , Johnny stepped up on the platform, his eyes on the floor．He began to play, and the band 16 behind him．When the song ended, he heard cheers．Johnny kept playing until the dance was 17 ．“You did a fine job tonight．Play with us again next Saturday night,”Alcide said．“Yes, sir!”said Johnny． 18 he went outside, Johnny saw Lisette and her friends near the door．Lisette stepped 19 , smiling,“You played really good tonight!”she said．
“Thank you,”Johnny blushed(脸红)．As he walked on, Pierre 20 moved out of the way for him to pass．
Johnny patted his accordion．Come to think of it, in his whole life, he had never once seen Alcide out on the dance floor．

I was in a department store with my mom, aunt, and my sister a few days ago． 1 , I am one of those people who do not like to go shopping with my family．However, I decided this time to 2 them．
My aunt and I were 3 for some things to buy for our family when I noticed two 4 on the side．One of them had a little girl sitting on it with her 5 nearby and the other one was 6 ．So, I decided to sit down．While I was 7 my own thing there, I 8 that the family were not in front of the 9 anymore．I saw the girl 10 and look around for her family．She came back and I saw her in 11 , crying．
I knew that she 12 her family and was all by herself．Now, I am sure that almost everybody has been lost in a department store or 13 big before and we all know that feeling． 14 I went up to her and asked what was 15 and in between tears she told me she was lost．I 16 her a smile card I just bought．You should have seen the 17 on her face when she read it．Then I went up to customer service center and 18 them what happened．People there promised to 19 her．After I left, the little girl's parents went there and I could see them looking around for the person who had found their daughter and given her the 20 ．Little did they know it was a regular teenager who did it．
When Ray was about seven, he had a very close friend．Ray and Mike went to an all-boys school and were in the same class．To Ray, Mike was 1 people would call the“best friend”．They lived near each other, went to and from school together, played together, were together in school, and 2 time in each others' homes．
Once, in school, Ray encountered an academic 3 and was very down．He just 4 round and round the school playground． Mike 5 Ray, and their distance is far enough not to stifle(使压抑) him, but 6 enough never to let Ray out of his 7 ．Ray was very angry at that time．He just wanted to be 8 ．At one point, he got so worked up that he even blurted out, “ 9 leave me alone!” But Mike just 10 walked on behind Ray, still never uttering a 11 ．
It was only after many years, almost two decades later, that Ray truly began to 12 the profound lesson on 13 which had been shown to him that day．Ray and Mike had already separated by then, 14 seeing each other every year, and 15 then only in big groups of friends．Mike had taught him that true friendship does not only 16 when one wants or needs it．A true friend will be 17 when he thinks you need him, 18 whether you want it or not or whether you would 19 it or not．
Till this day, Ray is still 20 ．And he will always be．
