Like a]l little children, my seven-year-old daughter gets scared sometimes when she is trying to go to sleep. If the wind is howling, her 36 can begin working overtime and she may see a (n) 37 in the shadows laughing in the wind.
This past Monday was one such night. 38 after I put her to bed, she came into my room crying that she was scared. She said she 39 the sound of a bad guy laughing and she was extremely afraid that 40 was going to get all of us. Her tears 41 my heart, and I held my daughter in my arms and assured her that nothing would happen to her. I walked her back into her room and 42 down beside her to continue to assure her that I would keep her safe.
“Yes, I know you will always 43 me, Daddy, but what about when you go to sleep?” she asked.
“Sweetheart,” I comforted her, “there are great angels all around this house, and they 44 sleep. They are here just to safeguard us. They can 45 any bad guy from getting in here.”
“ 46 , Daddy, what about when the angels miss? I mean like when kids are kidnapped (绑架)or robbers 47 people’s houses – what about those 48 ?”
Her question struck m e – when did I start 49 questions like this? When did I begin not to consider the most obvious problems of our 50 ? I mean, I 51 problems every day but I am still very surprised by this 52 question.
I considered her question and realized there is no perfect 53 . And I drew my 54 and simply sated, “I don’t know, sweetheart.” I held her a little 55 , and I went back to my original answer, “I am with you.”

[l] Late last year a new champion earned the title of Winningest High School Basketball Coach of All Time-and she's a 73-year-old Texas grandmother named Leta Andrews. Here are some life lessons from her winning ways:
[2] ________.Andrews originally got her degree in elementary education, but knew
right away that being just a teacher was the wrong choice. She missed the sport she'd grown up playing and needed to find a way to combine basketball with her career. After going back for a second degree, Andrews was able to teach and coach on the high sohool level.Forty-nine years later, she still hasn't thought about giving up her beloved basketball.
[3] Hardship will make you stronger.Over the course of her career, Andrews has met
with more than a few male coaches who have neglected both her success and women's sports in general. She lets their “looking down” roll right off her like drops of sweat on a player's back.Instead, such slights make her work even harder to ensure her players believe they deserve as much success as any man, on and off the court.
[4] There's no I in team.On bus rides to games, Andrews takes away her players' cell
phones.Texting, she says, does harm to teambuilding. You can't win without a unified team that knows how to communicate with each other.Socializing is an important factor to success, and when we focus on ourselves(or our electronics)rather than others, we miss valuable connections and experiences.
[5] Winning is everything. It just depends on how you understand “winning”.For
Andrews, victory on the court is the logical result of lots and lots of hard work and preparation. She believes in tough love to get her players focused on playing their absolute best, individually and as a team. While a winning game is the immediate goal, she hopes all of her players will carry the team spirit with them long after graduation.

There are many problems connected with space travel. The first and greatest of them is gravity (地球引力). If you let your pencil drop to the floor, you can see gravity in action. Everything is down to the earth by magnetic force. The weight of something is another way of describing the amount of force exerted on it by gravity. A rocket must go at least 2, 500 miles an hour to take anyone beyond the gravity of the earth into space.
Another problem is the strain that a person is subjected to when a rocket leaves the ground. Anything that is not moving tends to resist movement. As the rocket leaves the ground, it pushes upward, and the person is pushed back against the chair. During this thrust, gravity exerts a force on the body equal to nine times its normal force.
Once out of the earth's gravity an astronaut is affected by still another problem—weightlessness. Here, if a pencil drops, it doesn't fall. If a glass of water is turned upside down, the water will not fall out. All of us who are used to gravity expect things to have weightless conditions. Recent long flights have shown that the body needs special exercise in a spaceship.
l. As a rocket leaves the ground, an astronaut experiences a force called——.
A. gravity B. a push
C. downward force D. strain
2. The force of gravity an astronaut is subjected to when the rocket leaves the ground is equal to
A. 7 times its downward force B. 5 times its normal force
C. 3 times its upward force D. 9 times its normal force
3. Which of the following is not true according to the passage?
A. Everything is down to the earth by magnetic force.
B. Recent long flights have shown that the body needs special exercise in spaceship.
C. A rocket must go at most 2, 500 miles an hour to take anyone beyond the gravity of the earth into space.

4. Which is the best title for this passage?
