We do some strange things when we don’t like the way our life is going.Too often we blame(责怪)someone else.‘‘I wish my parents were more understanding.”
“I have such a bad Chemistry teacher!”
“My friends are so boring and self-centered.They make my life worse and worse.’’
Blame! Blame! Blame!
It seems natural to sing this self-pitying song, but the truth is,if you don’t like your life, you should do something about it.No one else knows exactly how you feel or what you need.No one can read your mind correctly. You are the only one with the power to cheek your life, and if you want it to be different, you can change what you’re doing.
When you’re in trouble, don’t give away your power to decide how you feel about yourself. Choose how you want to think and act.Other people can’t make you unhappy or angry. They only act in their own way and then it’s up to you to decide how you will respond(回应).For example, your friends go out to lunch without you and you feel very angry. How are you going to act? You may blame your friends,“They are not kind.Who needs them anyway?” Or you may tell your friends how you feel, listen to their explanation, and let them know you’d like to be invited next time.
When you decide everything in your own way, you’re getting hold of your own life and shaping(塑造)it according to your tastes and feelings. You can choose to be happy,to make friends and to build an interesting life. When you blame others for what is or isn’t happening in your life, you have stopped growing or learning.
One of the most important rules is that you can never change another person by your direct action. The only person you have the right to change is yourself.Once you change, the other person has something different to respond to and change is possible. If you want change in your life, begin with yourself.

Anger(生气) is a very common human emotion and at some time or another we all experience it. From young children to old people we all feel angry in various times and for various reasons. There is nothing wrong with this. It is only when you lose control of your feelings and begin to shout and complain unnecessarily about something unimportant that it is seen as a problem. Since it is a natural emotion, you do not have to try to get rid of it completely. You only have to control it.
The first thing you should do is to improve your self-image. This will be of great help to you in your management of anger. You will find that when you are in a situation where you would normally get angry and shout, you will have the self-confidence to put your case forward without displaying anger to cover up your emotions. This will give you a better image of yourself and help you to feel good about yourself. Remember that others think of you what you think of yourself.
A good idea is to think about what makes you angry while you are in a good mood. It is no use asking the question once your anger has been aroused (激起). What situation is it that can make you lose your temper in a second? It is usually not even very big issues that can make you do this. It is usually just the fact that things are not going in your own way. By avoiding these issues you can control your anger.
Make a list(清单) of the things that cause you to get angry. Discuss your list with your family and they will give you their help in any way they can. They will be so pleased that you are trying to be different that you can be sure that they will do everything they can to make you happy.
There are many reasons for people to lose their temper in everyday life and that is why it is so important to learn to manage it. There is nothing wrong with getting angry about something if your anger is controlled. Saying what you think is necessary but never raising your voice in anger or becoming threatening to the person you have directed your anger at is what you are supposed to do.

A proven method for effective textbook reading is the SQ3R method developed by Francis Robinson. The first is to survey (the S step) the chapter by reading the title, introduction, section headings, summary., and by studying any graphs, tables, illustrations or charts. The purpose of this step is to get an overview of the chapter so that you will know before you read what it will be about. In the second step (the Q step), for each section you ask yourself questions such as "What do I already know about this topic?" and "What do I want to know?" In this step you also take the section heading and turn it into a question. This step gives you a purpose for reading the section. The third step (the first of the 3 R's) is to read to find the answers to your questions. Then at the end of each section, before going on to the next section, you recite ( the second of the 3 R's) the answers to the questions that formed in the question step. When you recite you should say the information you want to learn out loud in your own words. The fifth step is done after you have completed step 2, 3 and 4 for each section. You review (the last of the 3 R's) the entire chapter. The review is done much as the survey was in the first step. As you review, hold a mental conversation with yourself as you recite the information you selected as important to learn. The mental conversation could take the form of asking and answering the questions formed the headings or reading the summary, which lists the main ideas in the chapter, and trying to fill in the details for each main idea.

Sometime in the next century, the familiar early-newspaper on the front porch (门廊) will disappear. And instead of reading your newspaper, it will read to you. You’ll get up and turn on the computer newspaper just like switching on the TV. An electronic voice will distribute stories about the latest events, guided by a program that selects the type of news you want. You’ll even get to choose the kind of voice you want to hear. Want more information on this brief story? A simple touch makes the entire text appear. Save it in your own personal computer if you like. These are among the predictions from communication experts working on the newspapers of the future. Pictured as part of broader home-based media and entertainment systems, computer newspapers will unite print and broadcast reporting, and offer news and analysis with video images of news events.
Most of the technology is available now, but convincing more people that they don’t need to read a newspaper is the next step. But resistance to computer newspapers may be stronger from within journalism. Since it is such a cultural change, it may be that the present generation of journalists and publishers will have to die off before the next generation realizes that the newspaper industry is no longer a newspaper industry. Technology is making the end of traditional newspapers unavoidable.
Despite technological advances, it could take decades to replace newsprint with computer screens. It might take 30 to 40 years to complete the changeover because people need to buy computers and because newspapers have established financial interests in the paper industry.
1. Which of the following is NOT an advantage of computer newspapers?
A. They are cheaper than traditional newspapers.
B. They are more convenient to read.
C. You can choose the kind of voice you want to hear.
D. You can easily save information for future use.
2. Which of the following is a reason why it will take a long time to complete the changeover?
A. The technology is impossible now.
B. Computer newspapers are too expensive.
C. The popularization of computers needs a long time.
D. Traditional newspapers are easier to read.
3. It can be inferred that journalists are against computer newspapers because _______.
A. they don’t know how to use computers
B. they think computer newspapers take too much time to read
C. they think the new technology is bad
D. they have been trained to write for traditional newspapers
4. We can infer from the passage that _______.
A. all technological changes are good
B. new technologies don’t always replace old ones
C. new technologies will eventually replace old ones
D. traditional newspapers are here to stay for another century
5. What is the best title of the passage?
A. Computer newspapers are well liked.
B. Newspapers of the future will be on the computer.
C. Newspapers are out of fashion.
D. New communications technology.
