Some people bring out the best in you in a way that you might never have fully realized on your own.My mother was one of those people.
My father died when I was one-year-old.While I was growing up, we led a very hard life, but my mom gave me a lot of love. Each night, she seated me on her lap and, spoke the words that would change my life, "Kemmons, you are sure to be a great man and you can do anything in life if you work hard enough to get it."
At fourteen, I was hit by a car and the doctors said that I would never walk again.Every night my mother spoke to me in her gentle, loving voice, telling me whatever those doctors said, I could walk again if I wanted to.She drove that message so deep into my heart that I finally believed her.A year later, I walked on my own to school!
When the Great Depression broke out, my mother lost her job. Then I left school to support the two of us.At that moment I decided never to be poor again.
Over the years, I experienced a lot of business success. But the real turning point happened on a vacation I took with my wife and five kids in 1951.I was dissatisfied with the second-class hotels available for families and was very angry that they charged an extra $2 for each child. That was too expensive for an ordinary American family.I told my wife that I was going to open a motel (汽车旅馆) for families that would never charge extra money for children. Many people did not believe me at that time.
Not surprisingly, mom was my strongest supporter. As in any business, I experienced a lot of difficulties. But with my mom's words in my heart, I never doubted I would succeed.Fifteen years later, I had the largest hotel system in the world—Holiday Inn.In 1979 my company had 1,759 inns in more than fifty countries with an income of $l billion a year.
You may not have started out life in the best situations. But if you find a task in life worth working for and believe in yourself, nothing can stop you.

A child's birthday party should be one of the most fun events of the year, for the birthday child, the guests
and even for the hosts. The three keys to a successful child's birthday party is planning, more planning, and
even more planning. Kid's birthday party games are important ingredients of every party and must be thought
out and arranged in advance. Luckily, there is no shortage of fun and interesting games to keep kids busy and
happy, so it is not difficult to come up with more than enough ideas.
It is important to remember that children have a far shorter attention span (长度) than adults. For that
reason, the host should not expect that one or two activities will keep the guests entertained for a long period
of time. Plan a lot of short, fun games that will satisfy their needs. Make sure that the games are age
appropriate:"duck duck goose" will keep little ones happy for a while, but certainly will not work for pre-teens.
"Scavenger or treasure hunts" are great kid's birthday party games for any age-just make sure that it's neither
too difficult nor too simple.
Be sure to have enough ideas in mind so that it is possible to "throw away" an activity that is not going well.
Kid's birthday party games should be simple and fun. If a game is started and no one seems to be having any
fun, simply end that activity and start another. Kids like changes and will not mind a bit. If the party is held
indoors, it is a good idea to clear a room of breakables and make that room the game headquarters. For outdoor
parties, make sure that the play area is free from potential dangers and that the games do not involve tree
climbing or other activities that are likely to cause injury.
Finally, remember to have prizes and treats on hand to reward the players. Prizes do not need to be large or
expensive. Kid's birthday party games are about teamwork, not rewards. Be sure to have prizes not only for
the winners of the games, but for every child in attendance, so that each child goes home with some fun
memento of the party and the time spent with friends.

It is that time of the year when the warm, late Summer days meet the cold, early Autumn nights. The skies on days like these are bright and clear. The air is cool, fresh, and full of the smell of wild flowers. The leaves on the trees are dark green but with splashes of red appearing here and there. It is a really beautiful time of the year.Every where and in everything you can see change.

Birds are starting to migrate.Children are getting ready for another school year.People are looking back on the fun days of Summer and forward to the busy days of Fall.

It is days like these that remind me that while seasons, weather, and nature's colors may change it is all beautiful and it is all joyful. And I am changing too.

My thick wavy hair is now pretty thin on top.Its dark brown color is now getting some gray sprinkled(散落)in it.The smile lines around my eyes and mouth are deeper now and stay with me even when I stop smiling. My glasses continue to get thicker with each new pair and the music I love is now referred to as "oldies".Still, I feel so happy and joyful in my life.I am grateful for my younger years because they taught me so much.

What I have learned and experienced has gotten me to where I am today.I am grateful for my present because now is where I live and now is where I love.I feel happiness in every moment that God has given me, and I take great delight in all the changes life brings.Life is a never ending journey of change and growth.Life's changes never stop but neither does life's joy.
