When Thomas Edison was 15, a train accident hurt his ears. Once when he tried to jump on a moving train, a conductor grabbed (抓) his ears to pull him up. He soon began to lose most of his hearing. His deafness (耳聋) could have been cured by an operation. But Edison didn't take the operation. He said being deaf helped him concentrate (专心).
