A few minutes before six o’clock, Mr. Smith left the house. He just wanted to 　　 the car when a gunman (持枪者) jumped up from the back seat. He 　　 a gun to Mr. Smith’s head. “Drive me to Paris!” he shouted.

　　He ran red lights, drove wrong on one-way streets. On the two-way streets, he drove on the wrong side of the road. None of the policemen saw him. Again, Mr. Smith’s plan was not working. He had to try a new plan.

On a snowy evening, a rich lady was standing by the road．She was very worried．Her     had broken down．Just then a poor man named Robert came．He was on his     back home from work as usual．

On a cold afternoon in winter, Robert was walking on the bridge. There was hardly any   1   on the river. Near the bridge, however, there was a small canoe(独木舟), with a boy in it. A man walked into a restaurant. The restaurant advertised it had the   1   menu in the world. The manager was very proud of being able to provide any dish, no matter how   2   it was.

On the first day of school our teacher let us know someone. Looking out, we found an old woman 16 at the door.
