“I can’t believe what I’m hearing!” I thought to myself. Jeff was the last candidate (候选人)for president of Student Council. My best friend Tony came to me and said. “I’m sorry, Mike. I really thought you should be __36__.”

　When I was lost in London, it had one of the thickest fog（雾）in years. You could hardly see your hand in front of your face. Cars and buses ran very slowly with their lights on, and their horns（喇叭）made a terrible noise. When evening fell,it got even worse. All traffic（交通）came to a stop. Since I had an important meeting on the other side of town, I decided to walk.
