Which is better-to drive on the left or right? Do you think it really doesn't matter? If so, you are wrong. A group of America scientists say cars moving on the right hand side of the road help to make tornadoes
(龙卷风). The' Americans say that cars and trucks going very fast each other make the air turn anti-clockwise(逆时针方向)in the northern half of the earth. In the southern half of the earth the air goes clockwise. So in the USA people must drive cars on the left, and in Australia, for example, people must drive on the right! There are about 2.5 million cars and trucks moving on the roads in the USA at any time. The air that they move is strong enough to change to the movement of the air. Between 1933 and 1973,there were not so many tornadoes because there were less cars and trucks on the roads.
Scientists have found that there are not so many tornadoes on Saturdays. That is because cars on Saturdays are fewer. But tornadoes come mostly on weekdays when there are so many people driving to work
