Every year a lot of people are killed(死亡) on the roads(公路) in Great Britain. Every year about 200,000 people are hurt.(受伤)

There are many rules to make the roads safe(安全的), but people do not always obey(遵守) the rules. What should people do to make the roads safe?

Remember this rule. In Great Britain, cars, buses and bikes must go on the left of the roads. In most other countries, cars, buses and bikes must go on the right.

Before going across the road, stop and look right and left. Then, if you are sure that the road is clear, it is safe to go across the road. If you see children or old people, help them to go across the road. We must teach children how to go across the road safely. We must always give them a good example. Small children must not play in the street.
