四、… There’s no doubt it will make our school better known. What’s more, it’s good for students to develop their interest in learning English and improve their oral English. At the same time, it’s a good chance for the students to learn more about foreign cultures.

Every coin has two sides. Some foreigners will find it difficult to get used to the way of life in China and they sometimes worry about their safety, though they are well paid. The most important thing is that they don’t know about Chinese students. As a result, the students may not learn as much from them as expected.

At last, I think it important for us to depend on ourselves to learn English well.(可根据个人发挥内容给分)

 (Text 3)

W: Here is a letter for you, Mike.

M: Oh, it’s a letter from my family. Thank you a lot. I haven’t heard from my family for a long time. How happy I am! Thank you, Betty.

 W: Not at all.

 (Text 4)

W: What time is it now by your watch?

M: Oh, dear, I forgot about it. What time does it begin?

W: How did you spend your summer holidays?

M: I went back to my hometown to see my parents. Then I went to Harbin for some days.

W: Why did you choose the north of China?

M: Because summer in the south is too hot and I wanted to get away from the terrible heat. What about you?

W: I stayed home and did some reading. I don’t enjoy traveling very much. Travel is too tiring and it also costs quite a lot of money. Well, by the way, did you enjoy yourself in the summer holiday?

 M: Yes, very much.

W: Yes, the repairman will come soon. I called him just now.

W: Sure, I will. By the way, when should I get it ready?

M: You’d better get it ready this afternoon. I will use it tomorrow morning.

W: No problem. I think it will be ready this afternoon if the computer gets repaired this morning.

 M: Thank you.

 (Text 9)

W: Good morning. Can I help you?

M: Yes, I’d like to have a room for two nights.

W: Well, we still have free rooms on the third and fourth floors. Which floor would you prefer?

M: The third floor. How much should I pay for one night?

W: 80 dollars a night.  But you have to pay three hundred dollars in advance.

M: Do you provide hot water in the rooms?

W: Yes. We provide hot water 24 hours a day. You can take a bath at any time you like.

M: What are the meal times, please?

W: Breakfast begins at 7:00 am. Lunch begins at 11:30 am. And supper is  ready at 5:30 pm.

M: Can anyone show me to my room?

W: Look, that boy will show you to your room.

 M: Thanks.

Sports and games are very useful for character training. In their lessons at school, boys and girls may learn about such virtues as unselfishness, courage, discipline and love of one’s country. But what is learned in books cannot have the same deep effect on a child’s character as what is learned by experience. As most of the pupils’ time is spent in classes studying lessons, an ordinary day school can’t give much practical training for their lives in the future. So it is what the pupils do in their spare time that really prepares them to take their place in society as citizens when they grow up. If each of them learns to work for his team, and not for himself on the football field, he will later find it natural to work for the good of his country instead of only for his own benefit.
