I was sleeping for over a week after a traffic accident. The only sounds that could be heard were coming from the machines that were1 me alive.
All my family members were2 ways to wake me up from my silence.
Greg, my brother – in – law,3 to take some of my songs I had recently recorded to a local radio station,4 he explained about my illness. He told them he was5 I could hear what was going on around me and that he knew having my own songs6 on the radio had been a huge dream of mine. This would definitely7 me and do more than any medicine or machine could.
The radio station agreed to help and gave him a specific date and time8 he could have a radio “ 44 ” at my hospital bed. Greg’s decision had filled everyone with9 and now the moment arrived. Nervous from expectation, all my family members10 hands and watched over me hoping for a11 .
The DJ made a pre – song announcement about my12 to the general audience, and then spoke directly to me.
“Shelly, this is for you. I want you to really listen now. This is not just13 song we’re playing, but your family’s song of hope. All of us at KKDJ wish you a speedy14 .”
20090151
Everyone in the room held their breath and watched16 as the music began. Later they all witnessed the tears17 down my pale cheeks. Though still not awake, it was obvious I heard my song.Just a few days later, hope turned into18 . I did in fact awake. Though not19 unscathed (未受伤的), I did not suffer from the disabilities that had been predicted.
Hope is the part of us that makes us pick up the pieces and try again.20 hope where would we be?

It was my first day at school. I felt 1 and scared. I went to all my classes with no friends. I felt no one really 2 me. I listened anxiously to all the lessons and waited for the lunch break. Then finally the bell 3. It was time to get free of the uneasy atmosphere.
During the lunch I met a new friend who wore a hat, and 4 I am Jewish, we got along well, and I was so 5 when she said, “Sit with us, at our table.” She 6 to the one next to the door.
So I 7, and took my tray and was about to walk with her 8 the floor, when suddenly I felt a nudge. “Hey, I saw you on the bus,” said a 9 girl in a long skirt. “I 10 your Jewish star necklace. You should sit with us.”
At that moment I 11 around, and to my surprise, I 12 the nations of the world, isolated themselves. The Spanish only sat with Spanish, the Hindus 13 with Hindus, the Russians with the Russians, and 14 the Arabs with the Jews. That’s what I saw 15 my own eyes.
Suddenly, I saw the reason why wars got started in the world. Everyone 16 to their own kind. The lunchroom was a 17 of the world. Why was everyone so 18? I was puzzled.
But I wanted a change. Determinedly, I turned 19 this tall girl, and went with my new friend. There was no enmity(敌意) in the room. I felt relaxed. I built a 20 between two worlds when I sat with those different from me. The whole world should get close, not apart.
