A good relationship(关系)with a teacher may help you learn better. But what should you do if you find it difficult to get along well with your teachers? Here are some tips.

If you’re facing problems with a teacher, try to find out why. 71 Or do you like the subject but just dislike the teacher?

If you don’t like the subject, it can affect(影响)your relationship with the teacher. You should try to find the practical value in classes you don’t like. You may hate math. 72

If you find a subject hard, talk to your teacher to be given more help. 73 It may help you raise your grade gradually.

74 Show an interest in the subject, which may change your attitude towards your teacher. You can also talk to your teacher when he or she is free. Use this time to get extra help , ask questions, or talk about your progress in class. You may be surprised to learn that your teacher is a bit more relaxed and friendly than when lecturing in front of the whole class.

If you don’t agree with your teacher, do not quarrel with him or her. 75 Just as teachers need to be fair and treat everyone equally, students have responsibilities too. You don’t have to like your teacher or agree with what he or she says, but it is necessary to be polite.

A. Do you dislike the subject?

B. What is your opinion about it?

C. What if you just don’t like the teacher?

D. Any teacher will give you some useful advice.

E. And it’s impossible to like everyone all the time.

F. Common respect is a basic requirement of any relationship.

G .But learning it well can help you in everything from sports to leaving a tip(小费).

I have a neighbor we call “Happy”. I have never seen her angry at anything and never heard her say a harsh (苛刻) word to anyone or about anyone.
Happy and her husband Ben, 70, have a huge garden. They spent many happy hours together working on it. Most of the neighbors watched interestingly as Ben doubled the size of their garden. As the cost of food climbed faster than Ben’s beans, we all wished we also had such a large garden. As the rest of us spent our dollars at the market, Happy could be seen picking beans in her back yard.
Last month, Happy and Ben invited most of the neighborhood for an “all-day food feast”. We were told to bring gloves and arrive very early in the morning. We didn’t know what was about to take place.
By 9:00 am, there were nine of us in the garden picking tomatoes, beans, okra, and squash. By 10:00 am, there was lots of laughter. We shared a lot of stories. By five o’clock, everyone was a little drunk from the wine and beer. After dinner, we played games. As we were leaving, Happy and Ben handed each of us a shopping bag filled with the bounty(收成)of the day. What a delightful gift!
Well, the point wasn’t so much about the food. The true gift was a day of friends enjoying one another’s company(陪伴). All this would not have happened if there had not been Happy and Ben’s garden. Now they have a blog about gardening in case we decided to plant a garden. And I am so proud of my tomato plants!
