You might be reading this article and saying, “Hey, that sounds just like me!” If so, we’re glad you recognize that this happens to you. Now you can start taking steps to lessen your test anxiety. Here are some ways to do that:

Ask for help. Talk to your mom or dad, your teacher, or your school guidance counselor. Just talking to someone about test anxiety can make you feel better. Describe what happens to you when you’re taking a test and these people can help you figure out some solutions. For instance, learning study skills can boost your test-day confidence.

Be prepared. Pay attention in class. Do your homework. Study for the test. On test day, you’re more likely to feel like you know the material.

Block bad thoughts. Watch out for any negative messages you might be sending yourself about the test. These thoughts can make anxiety worse and make it harder for you to do well in the test.

_________. Everyone makes mistakes. Be more forgiving of your own mistakes, especially if you prepared for the test and are set to do your best.

Breathe better. OK, so you already know how to breathe. But did you know that breathing exercises can help calm you down? (Just try not to take in too much air because it might make you feel dizzy.) Here’s how to do it: Inhale (breathe in) slowly and deeply through your nose, and then exhale (breathe out) slowly through your mouth. Do this two to four times and you just might breathe more easily the next time you’re taking a test!

76. Which sentence in the passage can be replaced by the following one?

Having too many negative messages in mind leads to worse test anxiety, which may stop you from doing well in the test.

“Reduce, reuse and recycle”, this popular environmental slogan tells us how to reduce the amount of rubbish that ends up in landfills.

The slogan is being used to deal with one possibly dangerous form of electronic junk, such as old computers, cellphones, and televisions. But this process of managing e-waste may be used in an unscrupulous way more often than not, a recent report suggests.

“Many of these materials are being sent to developing nations under the excuse for reuse-to bridge the digital divide,” said Richard Gutierrez, a policy researcher.

One of the problems is that no one proves whether these old machines work before they hit the seaways. Because of this, the report says, e-waste is a growing problem in Lagos, Nigeria, and elsewhere in the developing world. Much of the waste ends up being thrown away along rivers and roads. Often it’s taken apart by poor people, who may face dangerous exposure to poisonous chemicals in the equipment.

Tradesmen also pay workers a little money to get materials back such as gold and copper. This low-tech recovery process could expose workers and the local environment to many dangerous materials used to build electronics. According to Gutierrez, this shadow economy exists because the excuse for recycling and reusing electronics gives businessmen “a green passport” to ship waste around the globe. “Developing nations must take on some of the responsibility themselves,” Gutierrez said. But he added, “a greater part of this responsibility should fall on the exporting state.”

China, for example, has become a dumping place for large amounts of e-waste. The nation is beginning to take action to stop the flow of dangerous materials across its borders. The Chinese government, after many years of denials, is finally beginning to take the lead.

   B. neither developed nor developing countries should be blamed for the e-waste problem

   C. developing countries should mainly be responsible for the e-waste problem

   D. developing countries should not be blamed for the e-waste problem

We all know that money can’t buy happiness, but many times we act as if we’d be happier with a bit more money. We are conditioned to want to be rich (when we know the rich aren’t happy either); we are trained to want the latest gadget(小玩意儿) or style that television tells us to want; we want to earn more money because then we’ll have the good life.
But none of that will bring us happiness. No matter how much we earn, how much we have in the bank, how nice our clothing or cars or toys, none of it will make us happier.
So what will bring us happiness? Luckily, it’s three things that don’t cost a thing. These three things have been proven by surveys of thousands of people about what they have, what their lives are like, and how happy they are.
Here they are, the Three Secrets to Happiness:
  1. Good relationships. We have a human need to be close, to be intimate, with other human beings. Having good, supportive friendships, a strong marriage or close and loving relationships with our family members will make us much more likely to be happy.

Action steps: Take time, today, to spend time with your loved ones.

  2. Positive thinking. I’m obviously a big proponent of positive thinking as the best way to achieve your goals, but it turns out that it can lead to happiness too. Optimism and self-esteem are some of the best indicators of people who lead happy lives.

Action steps: Make positive thinking a habit. Get into the habit of squashing all negative thoughts and replacing them with positive ones. Instead of “I can’t” think “I can”.
  3. Flow. This is a popular concept on the Internet these days — the state we enter when we are completely focused on the work or task before us. We are so buried in our task that we lose track of time. Having work and leisure that get you in this state of flow will almost undoubtedly lead to happiness.

People find greatest enjoyment not when they’re passively mindless, but when they’re absorbed in a mindful challenge.

Action steps: Find work that you have a passion for. Seriously — this is an extremely important step. Find hobbies that you have a passion for. Turn off the TV — this is the opposite of flow — and get outside and do something that truly engages you.
You’ve been given the Three Secrets to Happiness. Don’t waste them!

President Obama is encouraging moms to make their education a priority. While encouraging people of all ages to seek their education, Obama is particularly targeting working moms with his Scholarships for Moms program. The Scholarships for Moms program builds on the federal government’s long-standing offer of Pell Grants. To encourage more mothers to return to school, the Obama administration is now making some changes.

For the Scholarships for Moms program, the biggest incentive is the amount of money being offered. The maximum amount awarded through Pell Grants is about $4,000 per student, but for mothers who apply to the program, the amount is increased to $5,000. The aim of these grants is to allow working moms to return to school and earn a degree that allows them to better provide for their families now and in the future. In addition, the administration hopes that equipping mothers to earn more money as working professionals will also be a stimulus to the economy.

In addition, a great incentive for mums considering this program is that it applies to enrollment in nearly any type of higher education institution. Four-year universities as well as smaller community colleges, are covered. You can go to a private school or a public one. An option for busy moms who can’t stay on campus is to study through online courses. Basically the government’s Scholarships for Moms program is a comprehensive attempt to get mothers who are keen on study back into the classroom.

With the Obama scholarship, the worry of returning to school is removed. In almost any area of interest, working moms can earn a degree. This means they can be fully equipped to provide for their families. Higher education no longer has to be an unfulfilled wish or unobtainable goal. The Scholarships for Moms program was designed to help create a brighter future for mothers and their children.

How often do you let other people’s nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, impolite waiter, rude boss, or an insensitive employee  36  your day?

Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson in the back of a New York City taxi cab. One day I was in a taxi and we headed   37  the airport. We were driving in the  38  lane when suddenly a black car drove out of a parking space right in front of us.  My taxi driver slammed on his  39 , slide sideways, and at the very last moment our car stopped and  40   the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car , the guy who almost caused a big accident, looked around and started   41  at us.

My taxi driver just  42  and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was  43, so I said,"Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!” This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call "The Law of the Garbage Truck".

He said, “ Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of 44, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage  45  up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on 46 .  Don’t take it personally; Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Believe me. You’ll be  47 .”

So I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage and  48   it to other people at work, at home, or on the street? It was then that I said, “I don’t want their garbage and I’m not going to spread it anymore.”

Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with 49 . The mark of your success is how quickly you can refocus on what’s  50  in your life. See, Roy Baumeister, a psychology researcher from Florida State University, found in his extensive research that you __51  bad things more often than good things in your life. You store the bad memories more easily, and you __52  them more frequently. So love the people who treat you right. Ignore the ones who don’t. Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you _53  it!The odds are against you when a Garbage Truck comes your way, but when you follow “The Law of the Garbage Truck”,you take back control of your life. You make room for the good by  54 go of the bad.

Have a Garbage-Free Day!Have a marvelous, garbage-free day!The seeds you plant today  55  the harvest you reap tomorrow.
