All children can learn the think like that if they’re given the chance to discover what they’re good at. “Extracurricular( 课程以外的) activities, hobbies even schoolwork help children learn about their own sense of purpose, worth and promise.” explains Leffert.
Another reason to encourage children in their life and study is that they learn to link success with hard work. “When a child works at learning to hit a baseball, plays music or joins in a computer game and then finally masters it, he feels an unbelievable sense of making something well done,” says Master. “He also learns that even when he thinks he can’t do something. If he keeps on trying and practising he may success.”
That’s what happened to a ten-year-old in Northern California. “When my son went out for basketball and discovered he was the worst child on the team he wanted to go away.” his mother says. “But his father and I said he had to finish the season. The coach wouldn’t let him give up either. He kept putting my son in the game and encouraging him to try.”
The young fellow finally shoots a basketball in the game. “You should have seen how proud he was,” his mother says. “He realizes now that he wouldn’t have had the experience if he hadn’t kept trying.”
