(37)AGood or normal stress might happen when you are called to answer a question in class or when you have to give a speech. This kind of stress can help you to get things better done.(38)G
But bad stress can happen if the stressful feelings keep going over a long time. You may not feel well if your parents are fighting,if a family member is ill,if you are having problems at school,or if you are going through anything else that makes you upset every day.(39)D

G.For example, you may do a better job on your test if the stress pushes you to prepare well   before the test.
17.People from East Asia tend to have more difficulty than those from Europe in distinguishing facial expressions--and a new report published online in Current Biology explains why.
Rachael Jack,University of Glasgow researcher, said that rather than scanning evenly (均匀的) across a face as Westerners do,Easterners fix their attention on the eyes.
"We show that Easterners and Westerners look at different face features to read facial expressions,"Jack said."Westerners look at the eyes and the mouth in equal measure, whereas Easterners favor the eyes and neglect (忽略) the mouth."
According to Jack and her colleagues, the discovery shows that human communication of emotion is more complex than previously believed. As a result, facial expressions that had been considered universally recognizable cannot be used to reliably convey emotion in cross-cultural situations.
The researchers studied cultural differences in the recognition of facial expressions by recording the eye movements of 13 Western Caucasian and 13 East Asian people while they observed pictures of expressive faces and put them into categories:happy, sad, surprised, fearful, disgusted, angry,or neutral. They compared how accurately participants read those facial expressions using their particular eye movement strategies.
It turned out that Easterners focused much greater attention on the eyes and made significantly more errors than did Westerners."The cultural difference in eye movements that theyshow is probably a reflection of cultural difference in facial expressions,"Jack said."Our data suggest that whereas Westerners use the whole face to convey emotion,Easterners use the eyes more and mouth less."
In short, the data show that facial expressions are not universal signals of human emotion. From here on,examining how cultural factors have diversified these basic social skills will help our understanding of human emotion.Otherwise, when it comes to communicating emotions across cultures,Easterners and Westerners will find themselves lost in translation.

16.To err is human. To blame the other guy is even more human.
Common sense is not all that common.
Why tell the truth when you can come up with a good excuse?
These three popular misquotes (戏谑的引语) are meant to be jokes, and yet they tell us a lot about human nature. To err,or to make mistakes,is indeed a part of being human, but it seems that most people don't want to accept the responsibility for the problem.Perhaps it is the natural thing to do.The original quote about human nature went like this:To err is human,to forgive, divine (神圣的).This saying mirrors a deal people should be forgiving of others'mistakes.Instead,we tend to do the opposite---find someone else to pass the blame on to.However, taking responsibility for something that went wrong is a making of great maturity.
Common sense is what we call clear thought.Having common sense means having a good general plan that will make things work well, and it also means staying with the plan.Common sense tells you that you take an umbrella out into a rainstorm, but you leave the umbrella home when you hear a weather forecast for sunshine.Common sense does not seem to be common for large organizations, because there are so many things going on that one person cannot be in charge of everything.People say that in a large company,"the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing."
And what is wrong with a society that thinks that making up a good excuse is like creating a work of art?One of the common problems with making excuses is that people, especially young people get the idea that it's okay not to be totally honest all the time. There is a corollary (直接推论) to that:if good excuse is"good"even if it isn't honest, then where is the place of the truth?

13.Five Ways to Improve Reading Comprehension(理解)Help your child keep what he reads--an important skill,especially as he gets older and needs to gain important information from textbooks.
Have him read aloud.This forces him to go slower,which gives him more time to process (加工) what he reads.(36)F.
Provide the right kinds of books.Make sure your child gets lots of practice reading books that aren't too hard.(37)GStopping any more often than that to figure out(弄明白) a word makes it tough(艰苦) for him to focus on the overall meaning of the story.
(38)ATo gain meaning from text,your child needs to read quickly and smoothly--a skill known as fluency.Rereading familiar,simple books gives your child practice at decoding words quickly so he'll become more fluent.
Talk to the teacher.If your child is struggling hard with comprehension,he may need more help with his reading--for example,building his vocabulary or practicing phonics skills.
Talk about what he's reading.This"verbal processing"helps him remember and think through the themes of the book.(39)EFor example:
●Before:"What interests you in this book?What doesn't?"
●During:"(40)BIs it turning out the way you thought it would?"
●After:"Can you summarize the book? What did you like about it?"

B.What's going on in the book?

12.Like human beings,dogs may catch cold because of cold weather,wet conditions or can also get it from other sick dogs.If a dog has a running nose and watery eyes,coughs or sneezes(打喷嚏),then it is quite probable that the dog has caught cold.
A dog's cold can get over after a few days without treatment but it totally depends upon the owner to treat it with medications or improve its immune power (免疫力) to get rid of the cold naturally.Following are some of the things you can do if your dog gets a cold.

Keep your dog warm.The best place for your dog in winter is inside your house.Do not keep your dog outside when it is cold and wet.At home you can also keep the dog warm with the help of carp ets.This will make him comfortable and help him to recover fast.
Increase the fluid(流质)intake as it helps a lot.Water can be the best choice but you can also add broth (肉汤)in water which will give your dog strength.Warm water will make your dog more comfortable and will also keep the dog away from the respiratory infections(呼吸道感染).
Steam treatment is considered to be effective in getting rid of cold.It makes the nasal(鼻的) passage (通道)wet,which helps proper breathing.Just fill your bathroom with steam and leave your dog inside the bathroom for 15minutes.Do it nearly 2to 3times a day and you will see your dog recovering.
These are some of the things you can do to help your dog recover from cold.However,if you are not able to find any improvement in its health,then turn to the vet for help immediately.Take your dog for regular checkups so as to avoid complications(并发症).

The basic function of money
Begin explaining the basic function of money by showing how people trade money for goods or services.It is important to show your child how money is traded for the things he wants to have.If he wants to have a toy,give him the money and let him hand the money to the cashier(收银员).(37)F When your child grows a bit older and understands the basic function of money,you can start explaining more complex ways of using money.
