7.I reached Cairo and took a taxi to Tahrir Square. The taxi dropped me off across the street from Hardee's,a fast-food restaurant. In the cold January air,two street children came to me with cries for food.
As a world traveler,I was used to beggars. But seldom had I been so moved by the sincerity of the plea (恳求).I asked them to wait while I went inside to buy them food.Since I was traveling on a tight budget and was even skipping meals on occasion, part of me identified with the children's hunger. But mostly, the children reminded me how rich I really was.
At the counter I ordered two hamburgers for the boys. Then,as the hamburgers were being cooked,I overcame my remaining stinginess(小气)and bought them one of Hardee's delicious, big chocolate chip cookies.
As they took the hamburgers, they showed me with 30 seconds of nonstop blessings, praying that Allah would bless me always. After they finished,I reached into the bag and pulled out the cookie, extending it for them to take. Both boys fell silent, and tears welled up in their eyes as they insisted this was too much. They refused the cookie six times. On my seventh attempt, after a long silent pause.they held out their hands and took the cookie.
The events that night are now in the past, but there are moments when I'm transported back to that empty square and to the honest faces of two boys.Five years later,I still ask God's blessings for those two Egyptian boys. While they had nothing material to give, they gave me something greater.an awareness of my spiritual poverty and a desire for a softer heart.

6.Yesterday I went to our local grocery store.I often go to their deli counter.and I understand that it can get a little confused for the workers. So normally none of them ever take the time to smile or seem overly friendly. But yesterday it was completely different.I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with a very welcoming smile by the young man behind the counter. He never sighed heavily or slumped back and forth like he didn't want to be there. He was all by himself and quite a long line. But not once did he act concerned about it.He just did his job efficiently anti acted very kind the entire time.
I was so impressed that I approached the manager.I explained to her that I often visit the deli counter and I have never been greeted with such kindness. She agreed with me that he was a wonderful person and she thanked me for sharing my feelings with her.
As I was walking away,I could hear her approaching the young man with,"I just got a wonderful compliment(praise)about you."I couldn't hear everything she was saying, but I knew that she did thank him.I couldn't help but smile!
Later I had to pass by the deli counter to get onions. There was no one there, except the diligent young man.He didn't say anything,he just smiled at me.I realized that I hadn't done a huge deed that day,but that small deed made a small difference to someone.I love seeing people smile.I just received my smile cards and I wish I had one with me that day.Maybe I will drop one off at the deli a different day! It's amazing how good I felt after that.
So,friends, the next time you are in a grocery store, retail store, restaurant,or anywhere that someone is working hard, letting them know in some way can mean so much.I hope you get a smile out of it like I did!

5.My pretty girlfriend had a failed marriage in the past.After divorce,her parents shed the deepest protection and care to her by helping her attend to the child and offering financial aids.Her parents'love made her pull herself together and forget the man who had hurt her before.
Nonetheless,her father,an honest and upright old man,after hearing his ex-son-in-law got promoted in his company,felt terrifically irritated (激怒)and went to his company to question his boss why a philandering(沾花惹草的) man with corrupt conducts could get promoted.The whole office fell into a mess immediately and many staff just watched on the sidelines.Some people even whispered lightly,"It is a new era now and the relationship between men and women is very open.No one would care about that any more!"The old man stood silently in the office with his hands shivering and eyes tearing.
That night,my girlfriend cried heavily in front of me.I asked her whether it was her father's stupid deeds that made her feel shamed.But she said that she felt guilty for her dad and that though the rest of the whole world betrayed her,her old father would still back her up and help her get the justice she deserved,just as when she was young and the neighboring boy grabbed her ball,her father would get it back for her.However,this changed world was no longer the stage for her old father and his deeds became funnily obsolete(老式的).No one managed to see the real and ever-lasting love to his daughter behind his seemingly rude behaviors.
Now we have grown up,so much so that we could support our family and have our own children.But in our parents'heart,they are still worried about us.They even would not like us to suffer a bit and try all means to protect us without caring about whether what they do is awkward and stupid or not.
Who in the world would love us so deeply and relentlessly without asking for any repay?Only our parents!
