Friendship is a very important part in people’s life. There are many different kinds of friendship. Not only can humans provide friendship for each other, but also animals sometimes show their friendship to their masters. If somebody owns a valuable friendship, he or she will receive at least two types of goodness in spiritual and physical sides. For example, when you feel down, maybe your friend—music can make you out of the despair. When you are lack of money occasionally, your friends like parents or brothers or sisters can lend you a hand. 【题目】Earlier this month, two rock climbers achieved what many thought impossible: They climbed up the 3,000-foot-high Dawn Wall in Yosemite National Park without specialized equipment. Climbing without this equipment is called“free-climbing.”Until now, no one had free-climbed to the top of the rock face, which is a part of the mountain EI Capitan.

El Capitan, which means“the captain”or“the chief”in Spanish, has always presented a challenge to climbers. But the Dawn Wall, on the mountains southeast face, is a particularly difficult route to the summit (顶峰). It is a rock formation that is both steep and relatively smooth. This makes free-climbing the rock face seem almost impossible.

About seven years ago, professional climber Tommy Caldwell spotted a possible route up the wall. It took years of planning and preparation, but this month, Caldwell, 36, and his friend Kevin Jorgeson, 30, finally make the climb.

Free climbers do use ropes and other basic safety equipment to catch them if they fall and Caldwell and Jorgeson fell often. Before starting their climb, they broke down their route into 32 sections. Each section was based on a rope length called a“pitch.”The rope was secured into the rock face to catch the climbers if they fell.

Caldwell and Jorgesons goal was to climb the Dawn Wall without returning to the ground. If they fell, they had to start that pitch all over again. The two men started climbing on December 27. They slept in hanging tents, and a team of friends brought them food each day.

The men had spent years rehearsing (排练) the movements it would take to get through each pitch. They made it through the fist half of the climb relatively easily. But halfway up, Jorgeson ran into trouble. In one difficult spot, he fell each time he attempted to climb. After 10 days of trying, Jorgeson finally made it to the next pitch.

Getting through that troublesome pitch gave both climbers renewed energy. They finished the rest of the climb five days later, on January 14.

【题目】Grown-ups are often surprised by how well they remember something they learned as children but have never practiced ever since. A man who has not had a chance to go swimming for years can still swim as well as ever when he gets back in the water. He can get on a bicycle after many years and still ride away. He can play catch and hit a ball as well as his son. A mother who has not thought about the words for years can teach her daughter the poem that begins "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" or remember the story of Cinderella or Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

One explanation is the law of overlearning, which can be stated as follows: Once we have learned something, additional learning trials increase the length of time we will remember it.

In childhood we usually continue to practice such skills as swimming, bicycle riding, and playing baseball long after we have learned them. We continue to listen to and remind ourselves of words such as "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" and childhood tales such as Cinderella and Goldilocks. We not only learn but overlearn.

The multiplication tables(乘法口诀表) are an exception to the general rule that we forget rather quickly the things that we learn in school, because they are another of the things we overlearn in childhood. The law of overlearning explains why cramming (突击学习) for an examination, though it may result in a passing grade, is not a satisfactory way to learn a college course. By cramming, a student may learn the subject well enough to get by on the examination, but he is likely soon to forget almost everything he learned. A little overlearning, on the other hand, is really necessary for one's future development.

【1】Whats the main idea of Paragraph 1?

A. Children have a better memory than grown-ups.

Christmas Is Good For You Really!!!

The Christmas holiday season gets a bad name when it comes to health, but this time of year can actually boost your mind and body. And heres how

【1】____________

Studies have found that spending money on experiences increases happiness more than paying a large sum of money for material goods. Now new research shows this mood lift can come from simply making your list (and checking it twice): A 2014 Cornell study found that people who merely expect to make an up coming experiential purchase, such as ski lessons, report higher levels of happiness than those who plan to buy, say, a new tech gadget.

2___________

Singing can reduce stress hormones and boost oxytocin, the love hormone that promotes feelings of trust and bonding. Swedish research published last year found that certain aspects of singing make people adopt a calm breathing pattern, like that associated with yoga. Singing in a group can improve self-esteem and increase feelings of social belonging, which can ward off loneliness. Even if you are not accustomed to singing aloud Christmas tunes door-to-door, sing along with your kids or our partner to a holiday radio station while you go on a short trip or drive to visit families or friends.

3___________

Waling about in the supermarket for about an hour can burn 200 to 300 calories, depending on your size; whats more, its time you do not stick to your computer or television screens. Too much sitting increases your risk of everything from type 2 diabetes to cancer. The more incidental fitness stringing holiday fights, searching for an old album in the basement, bustling around the kitchen while preparing holiday dinners you can squeeze into your day, the better off you will be.

4___________

Instead of working with the modern instant communication apps, consider it an opportunity to write a personal note expressing how much the receiver means to you and how much you appreciate the help or guidance he or she offered. One study found that people who put down what they were thankful for each week felt more optimistic about their lives, exercised more, and even had fewer visits to physicians than people who wrote down things that annoyed them or neutral events.

5】____________

This sweet treat lowers LDL cholesterol (胆固醇) and blood pressure, raises HDL cholesterol, and even improves cognitive function and memory. In 2012, the European Food Safety Athority issued a scientific opinion that said consuming 200mg of cocoa flavonoids(类黄酮) a day can contribute to healthy blood flow. A cup made with a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa can contain or even go beyond this amount. To minimize clumping, mix powder into milk thats really warm. Add spices like cinnamon and a small amount of sugar or honey to cut the bitterness.
