Behaving well is the secret of getting on well with others.

      One possible version£º

Behaving well is the secret of getting on well with others.

As a student, I think it's very important to be on time and keep one's promises. We should never lie to others or say dirty words. We should be polite to others and always be ready to help people in need. We shouldn't talk loudly in public or throw litter or spit about. Also, we should remember to obey traffic rules.

If you behave well, everybody will be glad to stay with you, thus you will make more friends.

When I was at University £¬ T studied very hard. But a lot of my friends did very little work. Some did just enough to pass exams. Others didn't do quite enough. Fred Baines was one of them. He spent more time drinking in the Students' Union than working in the library.

Once at the end of a term,we had to take an important test on chemistry. The test had a hundred questions. Beside each question we had to write "True" or "False". While I was studying in my room the night before the test,Fred was watching TV. Fred usually worried a lot the night before a test. But on that night he looked perfectly calm. Then he told me of his plan. "It's very simple. There are a hundred questions and I have to get fifty correct to pass the test. I'll take a coin into the examination room. I haven't studied my chemistry book for months,so I'll just toss the coin. That way,I'm sure I'll get half the questions right."

The next day £¬ Fred came happily into the exam room. As he sat tossing a coin for half an hour,he marked down his answers. Then he left, half an hour before the rest of us.

The next day,he saw the chemistry professor in the corridor. "Good morning, sir," he said. "Have you got the result of the test?" The professor looked at him and smiled, "Ah£¬ it's you,Fred Baines. Just a minute. ¡± Then he reached into his pocket and took out a coin. He threw it into the air, caught it in his hand and looked at it.

"I£¬m terribly sorry,Fred," he said. "You failed£¡"

Well£¬I finally did it. I finally decided to enter the digital age and get a cell phone. My kids have been annoying me and the last straw was when my car broke down, and I was stuck by the highway for an hour before someone stopped to help. But when I went to the cell phone store£¬I almost changed my mind. The phones all have cameras, computers and a "global-positioning" something or other that's supposed to spot me from space. Goodness, all I want to do is to be able to talk to my grandkids£¡The people at the store didn, t provide much help. They couldn' t understand why some?one wouldn't want a phone with the size of a postage stamp. And the rate plans£¡They were con?fusing ,and expensive, and the contract(ºÏͬ)lasted for two years£¡I'd almost given up until a friend told me about her new Jitterbug phone. Now£¬I have the convenience and safety of being about to stay in touch with a phone I can actually use.

Affordable plans that I can understand£¬and no contract to sign (Ç©¶©)£¡Unlike other cell phones£¬ Jitterbug has plans that make sense. Why should I pay for minutes T m never going to use? And if I do talk more than I plan,I won't find myself with no minutes like my friend who has a prepaid phone. Best of all, there is no contract to sign¨Dso I'm not locked in for years at a time. The US-based customer service is second to none, and the phone gets service anywhere in the country.
